Finally A Picture Of My Casino...And Her Special Friends

Finally worked out how to upload digital pics.

Here's my Casino that I got back in November......and her friends.

The Ric I got about 15 years ago and George's Rocky guitar I just made last December.

Funny thing is, three George guitars and I am not even a George fan.

The Epiphone sure goes nice with the others.

Close for a George Casino. It's missing the Bigsby.

I'M A JOHN FAN! No Bigsby!

Weird thing is that you can picture Beatle George easily with any of the three in my pic, but George probably used his SG more than the three in my pic combined.

I've got an old HR Puff N Stuff shirt that would go great with the strat.... I dig bright colors, it sorta resembles one of my race cars=d>

The Casino and the Rick are SWEET!!! I used to own a Rick, but the neck was just too annoying for me to play.

CONGRATS!!

.............is that an AC30 in the background?

Yeah' date=' the newer AC30 CC2 model. That Rocky Squier sounds REAL bright in it.

I'm actually considering doing that with my Squier Strat now....

Go for it. The guitar you can get for 90 bucks -- if you mess up the paint job, it really isn't that big of a loss.

Bottom line is I turned an el cheapo guitar into something spectacular and a real conversation piece, plus I now WANT to play this guitar. Does anyone really want to play a Squier?

BeatleNut say WHAT????????

Um, where did you get that information? From everything I've read, the SG was used only for a few tracks on "Revolver", plus "Rain" and "Paperback Writer". Any of your three would have seen more action. The Ric 12 is unmistakable on the classic tracks, and both it and the Casino were used during the Beatles' live and television appearances. "Rocky" was used extensively from "Nowhere Man" through "Magical Mystery Tour," and continued to appear on the White Album and "Abbey Road", plus some of George's later solo projects.

Here's a great resource for which guitars were used on which tracks:

The SG was used a bit more than you give credit for, but you probably are right - it wasn't used as much as the Casino or Ric. (I may have been thinking of his Les Paul which he probably did use more than his Casino, 12 Ric, or Rocky). And by the way, those three guitars you are giving too much credit for.

His "Rocky" guitar as painted was used on about five songs. George's most famous guitar - the 12 Ric - was really used on only about ten tracks, and the same for his Casino. They really weren't George's main guitars. That would be kind of hard to figure out.

Most used by Beatles:

Paul - Ric bass

John - Gibson J-160

George - ?

And that site you linked to has many inaccuracies -- John used his Casino on "Dear Prudence" (you can clearly hear it's an electric) not an acoustic as that site says. Some great books ("The Beatles As Musicians" for one) and a fantastic DVD set - "Beatles To-A-Tee" - offer great insight into who was playing what instrument.

Well I can't add much to the 'what-instrument-was-used-on-which-track' discussion, but those are three very nice guitars! Are you able to get a very accurate Beatles sound out of them on your Vox? I was thinking about trying out a few different amps in the near future to find out how close I can get to a Beatles sound, since that is what I play most, so it would be interesting to hear how your setup sounds.

By the way, the paintjob on the Strat is just brilliant. It's certainly the best Squier I've ever seen!

A big yes and a big no.

YES!

- when I play my Rickenbacker 12 string through the VOX, I sound exactly like George Harrison.

- when I play my Epiphone (not even a Gibson!) John Lennon EJ 160-E acoustic in the VOX , it is EXACTLY like their first album. This one is really uncanny how it matches perfectly. Certain settings and I swear John is playing "Please Please Me" right in front of me

- my Strat, even the Squier Strat, can duplicate the "Taxman" solo sound through the VOX (it's a crisp sound that the VOX easily reproduces)

NO!

- but when I play my Casino in that VOX, it does not match Lennon's sound because he played his Casino through Fenders. I can tweak the amp and get it to sound close (those rooftop concert songs - "Dig A Pony" "Get Back" - I can duplicate pretty well on the VOX), but the Casino really sounds better in my Fender amp.

You've got to remember that, essentially, The Beatles used VOX amps for their first half of their recording career and Fender amps for the last half. That VOX amp will get me "I Feel Fine" perfectly but just a close approximation of the later Beatle songs.
