animalfarm
Snagged a Halo Invert git from ebay for $99.00, seller claimed he would also send his "aftermarket parts" (consisted of 2 pickups, both wound to 16.2K???) Never heard of a pickup THAT hot, no name on pups, covers held on by 2 nuts on pole piece threads on bottom. Strange. Harmony Central reviews VERY good, selling prices going from $300.00 to $379.00 (marscelmusic.com). Anyway, added new 1" pots (A500k-tone and B500k-Vol), orange drop tone caps, new toggle switch, cream toggleplate and pup rings, gold knobs, Guitarfetish chrome tulip tuners and used EPI G-400 Bridge (HOTCH (G) - 13.3K and G-400 57CH (G) 8.13K pups as replacements. Action set at 4/32nds low E and 3/32nds high E. Plays quite nicely, NO fret buzz. Don't care what anyone sez, the EPI pups sound GOOD in some guitars, just depends on the WOOD!!! I will admit, I have had some EPI pups sound muddy in other gits. However, I have a winner on this one, good sustain, nice pinch harmonics. Main issue was some wet sanding to remove scratches, then buffout by hand (3X), and polish. OK... AS RECEIVED: AS FINISHED:

animalfarm
Thank you for all the positive input. the seller had torn it down and didn't want it anymore...??? The shape caught my eye, and the harmony central reviews sort of clinched it for me. The pups he sent were... strange. Remove the cover, and it has a wound magnet with a secondary REMOVEABLE magnet sitting next to it. What BRAND is this? Wound to 16.2K? Maybe I should grab some pix and see if anyone can ID them, can't imagine what a SUPER-wound pup would sound like. Total shred? Maybe we need a "Guitars I have resurrected from the grave" thread. Might be interesting. Hint: I would part with it for a reasonable price, I believe. Read my signature lines - I have "plenty", but that belongs in the trading post I think Never heard of HALO either, but it's a DECENT guitar!. I just do this because it's FUN!!! Hey, Matiac - you're right. Except for the headstock, there IS a similarity in the body design.....
matiac
And might I add the peghead, at least what I see in the photo, resembles a Dean...kinda like your Vendetta, only the lines aren't quite as sharp as the Dean. And looking at the neck tenon in the first photo, looks like a maple neck. HUGE tenon by the way, Gibbies ain't that big.
