stymye
I figure as long as your not using money that could go to something more important , like the house, car, food retirement or savings or a million other things. buy(or hoard in some cases) all you want. I have 4 guitars thats plenty for me.. I use to have several but A) many were an impulse thing more than a need B) nobody cared ! sure sometimes people would come over and say wow look at all those guitars why do you have so many?than I would try to explain how valuable they might be later on blah blah blah. some ended up being quite valuable but I had sold them by that time cause I got layed off from work and reality set in. and I was renting ! C) it can be an expensive hobby now I am almost in a completely debtless position to buy what I want and will .

Sancho
No such thing as too many. If you can afford it, and it gives you pleasure, why not? I'm at 17 now, 4 of which are Les Pauls. Thinking about getting an Explorer, 335 and one of those new Charvel production models.
Witmer
Too many is when you can't or don't play them all regularly (unless you have a 'collectors piece' which you won't touch). I guess 'regularly' is relative' date=' but you know what I mean. [/quote'] Hey - that's what I was gonna' say.
NeoConMan
How about this? When you have 4 vehicles on your insurance policy, and your guitars are insured for more than double that amount? Hmmmm.......
Riffster
This subject came up in conversation last night so I asked my wife how many she thought would be too guitars many for me. Her reply was "I don't know, get as many as you want, what I want to know is when you are going to stop buying freakin' coffee mugs..." and damned I did not have a come back for that.... gibsonjunkie
I found out this weekend that the answer is 13. I came home with a Les Paul Special Double Cut and the Mrs. wasn't happy. She'd really hit the wall if she found out about my new Hughes & Kettner amp!
GavinGuitar
I think as long as the collection isn't too redundant and each guitar fills its own niche, you can have as many as you can afford/want.
NeoConMan
Agreed. My point all along!
