Casino Owners - What's your favorite amp?

You can't go wrong with a Fender amp with a Casino IMHO! I've got a 94 Blues Deluxe, Bassman RI, Twin and a Vibroverb and they all sound wonderful with the Casino. The Epi BC 30 is also a fantastic alternative and more affordable as well! My Two Favs are the Vibroverb with an Ibanez TS8 or the Bassman with the TS8 and the Holy Grail from Electro Harmonix.

Hey' date=' ataylor. I have an AC30 and you know what I am saving up for? A VOX Pathfinder 15R.

I don't gig, just play at friends' houses now and then and to lug the AC30 from my house into my car into someone's basement is just not practical. I like what VOX does and the Pathfinder I tried was really cool so I am saving for that one. Either that or a VOX AC4TV. Bigger and expensive is not always the right choice.[/quote']

Uh oh -- don't let that other guy hear about your plans! :)

I'm in the same boat as you pretty much. It's great for playing at home at lower volume levels, great for taking to play with my band every week, and it's plenty loud enough for small gigs. To me it has plenty of the warm Vox sound. If I do end up buying a "nicer" amp later on, I'll probably get something a little different like a Fender Deluxe Reverb.

Those AC4 amps look really cool, they were just coming out when I got my Pathfinder. If they had reverb (which I love) I may have waited to try one.

Dude' date=' I was talking recording. OK, for those few remaining live shows The Beatles still used the Voxes. But there are maybe one or two instances where a Casino was recorded using a VOX amp. The Beatles knew that Fender was giving them a better amp -- especially for a Casino -- and they recorded their tunes with the Fenders. As said, once The Beatles went full steam ahead with their Casinos (Revolver and on) they were going full steam ahead with Fender amps.

And you really like that live sound with the Casinos and the Vox amps? Charlie Brown posted a link to The Beatles rooftop live performance...Casino with Fender amp, much better sound. VOX is fantastic for a Ric or, ironically, a Fender Strat. Not a Casino.

When the first Casino showed up the Beatles were still using AC100s in the studio. When John and Gerorge got theirs they had the new Vox 7120s, 7130s then the last of the Vox all solid state line.

The first of the Fender amps showed up in 1965 during the recording of Rubber Soul so they were used in the studio on that album for sure and after.

The 7120s were new at the time on Revolver and with the built in fuzz tone seemed to be the amp of choice for most of Revolver.

After Brian died the Beatles signed the Fender deal but still used what they wanted in the studio though most studio photos show the White Album being the last one for the use of Vox amps.

I have played and owned AC15s, AC30s and an AC50, small version of the AC100. The AC50s and 100s are much darker amps than the AC30s being EL34s vs EL84s. A Marshall on the clean channel will put you in the ballpark.

I really doubt a Beatle ever plugged a Casino into an AC30. Maybe at home if they still had one around but doubtful.

Well' date=' as "Concert for George" illustrated, very nicely..."Beatle Tones," (old or newer) can be had, with almost any

guitar, amp combo...IF the players know what they're doing. ;>) So...plug your Casino, into whatever you have or want,

and have a ball!

Kind of the point of my post CB.

I used to be gear anal in that the right Guitar into the right amp of my heros. Now I just plug into what ever is going to get me the tone I want. There is no Casino correct amp.

I can get a good sound these days with any amp and guitar. It is just the flavor now days from different amp and guitar combinations.

If only they'd gone "full steam ahead" with all things Fender...:P

...then Fender would be selling an awful lot of these:

I second that. I'm not a Stratocaster guy (the Telecaster just fits my sound and style best) but if I ever got a Strat this would be the one. It just looks awesome and I hear the pickups are very good.

I actually think my casino sounds better through my solid state 50w Escort or a Marshall Valvestate than the AC30 that I have.

Hello, Clarkuss -

It seems quite a while since you have been around these parts.

How go your various projects - Down & Outs and Beatles tribute band, etc.?

I use a Vox Pathfinder 15R for living room playing. As a previous poster said it is solid state but it has a very tube like warmth. In my music room I use mostly my Vox AD120VTH modeling amp,it has very convincing Vox sounds(of course) and you can really get the AC 15&30 jangle from it and the sound they got at Buddakan and Candlestick Park on their final world tour. When you set the amp in "blackface"(twin)mode you can recreate the late era Beatle sounds. If anyone is looking for an AC30 or Fender Twin pick up a Vox AD 30-120 and you'll have the best of both worlds and about 14 other models to choose from. You can pick up these amps pretty cheap on ebay and they are very reliable also.
