tpurgatoryt
Youll needa adjust ur string height if theres a buzz noise. But with strings u should get earnie ball slinkys 10 - 52 gauge.
colchar
On my SG I use the Ernie Ball Classic Rock Regular Slinkys which are their pure nickel strings and they are great. I fully intend to put them on the Epi Les Paul I am buying at the end of the month.
Bliss
with the informations that i've gathered i learned that when the gauge of the strings does not fit to your guitar? it produces a buzzing sound caused in the nut. so. hmm ernie ball or d'addario? and what type of ernie ball / d'addario? Anthony_JB
with the informations that i've gathered i learned that when the gauge of the strings does not fit to your guitar? it produces a buzzing sound caused in the nut. so. hmm ernie ball or d'addario? and what type of ernie ball / d'addario? Yes and no. When using a different gauge string you have to adjust your guitar's bridge height, intonation, and neck relief to compensate for the added tension as well as mass of the string. We call this a setup. The buzzing isn't coming from the nut. It could be happening at different parts of the fretboard. When it comes down to strings, it all boils down to preference. What ever feels good to you and sounds good to you.

Hungrycat
You need to have it set up. And that means: A) Taking it to someone who knows what they're doing. OR Learning to do it yourself.

tflanster
with the informations that i've gathered i learned that when the gauge of the strings does not fit to your guitar? it produces a buzzing sound caused in the nut. so. hmm ernie ball or d'addario? and what type of ernie ball / d'addario? Well first off' date=' the string brand has just about zero to do with buzzing, and probably not the nut, either. Most likely it's string height. However, I have d'addario 11-52 flats on my LP. Why? Because I like the feel and the sound. Others like other strings. You probably will like something else as well, or not. There's a wealth of information on the 'net showing how to adjust P/U and string height. Just google or bing "electric guitar setup". Find something that's clear to you and have at it. As difficult or complicated as some would have you believe, it really isn't a tough job. I'm sure as hell not a luthier or a tech, but I've set up and adjusted my guitars whenever the occasion demands - like changing string sizes, for example. I found all the info I needed on the 'net. Now, I'm not about to change frets or do anything like that. A job like that isn't for the average guy. But setting string heights, intonation, even filing slots in a nut isn't all that hard. Bliss
i put a d'addario exl130 [8s] and i caused a buzzing sound they told me it is not fit for my LP so i searched the net they use 10s etc etc. so does the gauge has something to do with the buzz? Bliss
ok sorry for the double post. but i read that an epiphone les paul standard [my guitar] use a gauge 10-46 without a set-up[mine has no set up, and im afraid of setting it up by others and setting it up by myself] and i tried to use a gauge 8-38 and it sounded real BAD on my guitar. and it produced a very noticable buzzing sound in the 6th String so the question is. what if i used a gauge 9-46 will this cause a buzzing sound? ><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>< u might think this ><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>< ---WTF? then buy the 10-46 If you read many things, that it fits your guitar. what a RETARD. -----my answer i liked searched all music stores >>yes they have D'Addario but only one shop has the 10-46 and its reeeeeal pricey than the other sellers it like.. costs two times more than the real price. ><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>< u might think this ><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>< ---what the.. STOP POSTING TOO MUCH. you are like flooding the forums. and STOP DOUBLE POSTING~~! -----my answer im terribly sorry. im new in the electric guitar world. and am so afraid of destroying my guitar. so i only want the best for 'em in order to do that. i need your opinions
midiman56
Bliss ... relax, man ... it's okay. Nobody is getting impatient with you or minds you asking questions ... Here's the story: Guitars are made out of wood and will change shape slightly over time and will react when different string gauges are used. This is because different guages of strings place different amounts of tension on the neck. It is not something particular to your guitar ... it's the same story with EVERY guitar. Now, those .08's you put on that guitar are really an extremely light guage to be using on that guitar. The loss of tension caused by those light strings probably caused the neck to relax and bow back just a bit, resulting in the buzzing you heard. In my experience, 99% of all string buzzing will be caused by the strings rubbing against the metal fret wires. When that happens, its either because the fret wires are too high, or because the strings are too close to the frets ... which is what I think is happening in your case. You Epiphone guitar came with a set of 10 to 46 strings on it. That is what I would recommend you go with on that guitar ... sorry if they cost more, but it will be worth it in the long run. The brand of string you use is entirely a matter of personal choice - if you ask 20 guitar players, you'll get 20 different suggestions. The important thing is that you get the right guage of strings on that thing. Secondly ... all guitars will need a periodic adjustment ... what the other guys are calling a set-up. I am pretty sure that yours needs one ... Epiphones are not always set up optimally in the first place, and you've been trying different strings on yours which, as I stated above, can cause the neck to slightly chage shape. You are going to need to find yourself a good guitar tech. Your best bet will be at a local music store. Don't worry if they don't sell Epiphone brand guitars ... most guitars are very similar in how they are adjusted. If they'll let you, try and watch what they are doing when they set up your guitar. Oh ... by the way ... get the set up AFTER you've changed the strings!!! I hope some of this helps, Bliss ... don't worry, your guitar isn't ruined ... it just needs a tweek or two and it will be the rock 'n roll weapon of your dreams. Let us know how everything turns out, huh? Jim

You should put 10's on your guitar and if necessary, learn how to adjust the bridge and truss rod. There is some very good information on the web about how to do this. Make adjustments in very small increments and you won't do any harm. 8's will always cause you problems with buzz and tuning. Good luck. LongMan
iv'e been wondering what would be the BEST D' Addario Strings for my guitar? i got the EXL130 and it produced buzzing sounds and it sounds like trash. As the others already said: This is the wrong question. First get your guitar properly set up by a pro guitar tech. Otherwise it won't matter what strings you are using, the guitar will always sound like crap with a poor setup.
