BT Bob
I'm hopeful that someone out there will have to answer to a question I have about storing guitars in racks. At present all my guitars are stored in their cases. For Christmas I'll be adding a 12-string to bring my collection to 5. I'm hoping to also get a rack to store them all in, which will obviously be more convenient in terms of picking one to play, but I'm concerned about dust. If I leave them "exposed", they'll just gather dust (after all, I can only play one at a time) and I don't want to be spending hours dusting them. I'm guessing there's a few people on here who store multiple guitars at home in racks, so I wondered what ingenious solutions you've come up with to stop your precious babies from gathering dust. Thanks in advance.
Versatile
Get this for ingenuity...if you will I wrap slit open refuse sacks around the protruding necks It has proven effective But looks poor...if that matters V
ChanMan
A hand held swiffer when the dust is noticeable. Almost all of my instruments are out where I can get to them, and this is the easiest method I've found for keeping them clean. Well... my wife found, that is.... damian
There are two recent threads about guitar cabinets.....I'm late for the studio, maybe someone can direct him to the two threads? If not, I'll be back, and I'll find them. Welcome to the lounge where everything is discussed with strict seriousness. ............

BT Bob
Thanks for the quick responses and suggestions, guys. Versatile - I like the financial implication of your idea. Unfortunately, these will be in my lounge, so I'm not really feeling refuse sacks there :( ChanMan - I'm loving this - especially the last bit ;-) damian/BigKahune - thanks for these. I like the cabinet BK - but don't really have the room in the lounge for a big(ish) cupboard. But I do appreciate the ideas - cheers.

MountainPlayer
Can't help you. We have no humidity here so everything, except what I'm playing at the time, stays in cases. Some of those photos look great though.
NeoConMan
Where's here? I'm in the Arizona desert. Takes a little effort this time of year to keep the humidity over 35% in the house, but it ain't bad.

BigKahune
Neo - You've been been holding out. . . . I've never seen that before either. Now that's a killer idea. Unfortunately, I haven't got the room for it.
NeoConMan
I can't take credit for the idea. When I married Mrs. Neo, this was the one place she cautiously asserted her will into my guitar world. Kept saying I needed a cabinet (or two) for storing guitars. Saw nothing in any furniture stores that were deep enough to close the doors. Almost sprung $5k to have one custom built by a highly recommended furniture guy in Scottsdale. He had a heart attack and cut his workload down to near nothing - my project was stillborn. Mrs. Neo found this in a local furnture store called Razmataz. Most all their big pieces are made in Mexico on order and shipped in. For well inside of $2k it answered every problem, and will hold 14 guitars with ease. Pretty well-built, comes apart in three pieces for moving. Overall, it's eight feet tall and seven feet wide. Later, she found another smaller one on clearance at Hobby Lobby. Less than $300 with slight damage. I had to mod it a little, but it works great too. Pics of that one in the signature link too.
BT Bob
Thanks again for the ideas and comments. NeoConMan - that is one amazing piece of furniture. I think, bigger than I need and too big for my lounge, but still very impressive.
Pete the Rocker
More pics in link below. Hope it helps. That is cool. Is that a tv stand? I'd like to use that idea, it looks good, and one can close the doors to keep the dust down too.
NeoConMan
Yeah, it's basically an entertainment center for a big screen TV. Doors close in the front, and I covered the access holes in the back wall. Dust is minimal on the inside. Tons of storage in the drawers and cabinets below, especially since it's so deep. Many people have been in the room without realizing what it holds. (Even with a Marshall stack in the room, non-guitar people just don't think about it.) animalfarm
Now THAT'S an "ENTERTAINMENT CENTER"! Pull up a couple of chairs, open the "Magic Doors", and just STARE... No channel changer/remote required. Just STARE.... Would keep me occupied for hours. Good job! What's on TV? NOTHING, really - just the "Guitar Channel again". Cool. I like to watch Re-Runs! NeoConMan
Now THAT'S an "ENTERTAINMENT CENTER"!Pull up a couple of chairs, open the "Magic Doors", and just STARE... Hah! I was gonna put lights in it, but there's no need. When I open the doors, angels sing and the light shines from within...
