There are some very off the wall traditions here but at least this one is fun, harmless and doesn't hurt anyone or anything... Ok, maybe it is a big waist in terms of food that could be used for starving people in other countries but this particular tomato is one that doesn't travel well and is grown specifically for this event... As far as the clean up in one hour after the tomato fight the streets are spotless!! Big water trucks come around and hose down the whole area...
