charlie brown
Yeah, Searcy...I just got two DVD's by The Pretenders: "The Pretenders, Loose in LA" & their Greatest Hits (Videos). LOVE 'em both. It had been awhile, since I'd listened to them, and now I've become "obsessed" (Again) with her/them. Love her writing, and her very unique voice/styling too. One of a kind, definitely! CB
craigh
Great band, great vocals. I saw The Pretenders Mark II. They were touring in support of "Learning To Crawl". Craig

Craig Yeah, "Learning to Crawl" is a great album. I saw them (in L.A.), around that time, too. Awesome show, and we had Great seats. I had a friend, at that time, who worked at ICM, who could get great seats, anytime. I'd love to see her/them, again! CB

Agreed. You have impeccable taste. LOL..thanks. Well, as most here know, I love "The Runaways," & "Joan Jett," etc. too! But, "The Pretenders" are different...unique, really. No matter the actual player line-up. They're Chrissie's songs, both in style/sound/melodies, and, of course, her awesome vocals. I did love the original line-up, the most. But...she's the core, and their sound revolves around her. And, she's always managed to get great players, for the various incarnations. There's no mistaking Chrissie Hynde's voice. I've loved it, from their first album, on. Joanie, has that ability, too. Her style, and/or direction, is just different. Awesome ladies, both. Two more: (From "The Pretenders, Loose in L.A." DVD) CB

Searcy
The last record I got from them was called "Break up the Concrete". Badass! And just for good measure.... This just kills me.
brundaddy
She was Sid Vicious's girlfriend. Lemmy (of Motorhead) said of Hynde: "A fantastic guitar player. No teats to speak of, though."

Yeah, I my copy of "Break Up The Concrete" (dual packaged with their "Greatest Hits" CD) is due here, tomorrow. I had to order it, from Amazon.com...as there are NO decent dealers, around here, anymore. The closest, is 70 to 100 miles away! The area Walmart (25 miles away) used to be OK...but, they've recently taken a major "nose dive" in the recorded music area, and their stock is minimal, at best. AND...mostly "Country," at that! So...??? So, I'm really looking forward, to getting Chrissie's latest effort. CB
charlie brown
Well...got my copy of "Break Up The Concrete," today. Good album! It IS a bit different sound, than previous incarnations, but unmistakeably Chrissie! I'm enjoying it. It was "bundled" with their "Greatest Hits," CD, as well...so, that's always a great listen, too. Glad she's still "Rockin'!" ;>) CB
LT ED
Dont know why but she always reminds me of Alice Cooper. Just add a little eye makeup and there you have it.
Rocky4
Check out Jas O's website. There is a link to an old interview with James Honeyman Scott. Very interesting. He mentions Chrissie quite often in it. ...and by the way, the Pretenders rock! Ugh, I can't find the original Talk Of The Town video on YouTube. t was so cool, very "80s ish

Looks like, lots of other interesting interviews there, as well. Should be fun! Trying to find The Pretenders "Live in London" DVD, on something besides Blue Ray. Haven't bought a "Blue Ray" player, yet. I guess, IF I could quit buying Gibson's, I could afford a Blue Ray?! (Smile) CB
charlie brown
Dont know why but she always reminds me of Alice Cooper. Just add a little eye makeup and there you have it. Well, she may not be the traditional/conventional "raving beauty," but I've always thought she was "sexy," even so. She could look "plain Jane" as in the "Brass in Pocket" video...or pretty darn Cute, in some of her other videos/performances. Besides, her music, and voice make up for anything she "might" be "lacking?" looks wise...IMHO. Hell...she'll be 60 years old, this September 7th! Hard to believe! ;>O "Rock on," Chrissie!!
