Well, guys, I'm now the proud owner of a new Firebird....Thanks to all who gave me advice and helped me out with this one.....

Sorry for the quality of the pics.....just shot it on my bed before batteries died.....lol...still looks nice. The one thing I like about this guitar is that I can strum it as hard as I want, and it will NOT distort!!! Very even along the stings tone and volume wise. The Maple back and sides /ebony fretboard combo is really a sweet sound. I played "Blackbird" and was blown away by how sweet it sounds.....definitely a keeper. I know that this is a bit of a wierd bird in here (I don't think I have ever seen one posted by a forum player) AND it has a little more "bling" than I am used to ...lol...but up close it is beautiful and inspirational. I read that the Bozeman Gibson Factory came out with this model after a fire came very close to Boseman and the factory, but they were spared. I kind of like that story with my guitar. So, now I will be playing this til my fingers bleed.....wish me luck that I don't hurt myself....see pics below

Thanks guys and gals.....it is beautiful.....built in '06 according to the Gibson website.....those fret makers are mother of pearl/abalone mix and supposed to be fire. And the headstock, is the Phoenix, the bird that rises out of the ashes. To me the fret board looks like Lotuses ( or loti??) I've seen that symbol many times in Indian art (from india) It may look like a lot of bling in pics, but really it is very simple up close. Non traditional, I'll give you that, but I like it. The sound on this thing is just amazing....I got the guitar, because I had only smaller body acoustics before (for blues and fingerpicking) and the small bodied guitars just seem to get overwhelmed with hard strumming. NOT this one. AND so sweet for fingerpicking. Thanks again for all the well wishes....(my fingers are bleeding)

  • 2 weeks later...

Mike says my guitar was made with left over fret markers form the Ron Woods Custom signature edition, and I think he is right, check out the bling on the original Custom designed by Ron Woods.....pretty ornate....I like the size and look of mine better, but it is interesting to see where it came from......
