Tikirocker
Just wondering if anybody had gone for using the Gibson black witches hat knobs on their Sheraton - I have long considered doing this on my own. If so I'd be keen to see some piccies. Cheers, TR
jcwillow777
I put these on my Sherry, I bought them from GFS. If you change the pots to CTS the Gibson knobs will fit, I didn't use CTS, I used Alphas from Stewmac.
BillyGibson
I'm getting ready to put some gold reflector bells on mine when I add the pointers. Not sure how witch hats would look
Notes_Norton
I put them on my Casino and since they share the same body shape, this should give you an idea: Before: After: Notes
BryanFoFyan
had them on a gibson sg and they looked and felt really good but cant help you on the sheri
Pumpkinhead
Another Casino, as opposed to a Sheraton, but I figured that one more wouldn't cause a problem. I was inspired in part by Notes Norton's Casino and had a similar makeover done when I had it upgraded:
Tikirocker
Thanks gents ... Casino's are more than welcome in this thread by the way. They look the ducks nuts and as I expected. There are two types of witches hats, the more compact type that is often seen and the proper large witches hats which I am referring to - as posted by the last two above. Not only do I want a change for cosmetic reasons but also because I find the witches hats much easier to grasp for and control on the fly than the smaller Sheraton bell types ... my fat fingers much prefer something with a larger base for twiddling. Cheers!
stein
Make sure when ordering you get the right ones. In the TOP photo of Norton's guitars, the one on the left has REFLECTOR knobs and the one on the right has WITCH HAT knobs.
rdsmith3
Not a Sheraton, but a humble Dot.
Parabar
The knobs on that Dot are reflector-top bell knobs. "Witch hat" knobs have a narrower knurled section and wider flange at the base.

matiac
I wanna put the gold ones with silver inserts and thumbcutter washers on my J.T. 133. I was noticing the peghead on it is identical to an Elitist peghead, so I have to put the gold witch-hats and thumbcutters on it, so's I can make pertend. Tikirocker
All this leads me to my next question ... which should likely be a new thread, but. Has anybody put a frequensator on a Sheraton II? This another one of those mods I have been considering. Cheers.
BillyGibson
Interesting question. I think I saw one here a little while ago where that was done. You'll be left with the holes from the current tail piece. It seems like that would take away the sustain, which is okay if that's what you want. It would probably add a bit more acoustic tone to it. Then you have the longer bass strings and shorter treble strings from the design of it. It could make the sound too different from what I like about the Sheraton. It's always reversible, except for the small holes near the strap button you would make.
Tikirocker
Great points Billy ... I gave this some thought last night after I posed that question and did more research and for my music I'm better off sticking with the Gibson bridge for now.
