Eyecon Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I'm sure with more than 43 Million views that some of you have seen this little girl already, but it's truly amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7UFm6ErMPU
j45nick Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Talented kids. Good production. However, the voice is so "produced" that you have no idea what she really sounds like.
thejtl Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Talented kids. Good production. However, the voice is so "produced" that you have no idea what she really sounds like. Don't agree with that. There's some processing in the signal chain, but no real artifacts of heavy auto tune. That's probably pretty much what she sounds like with some compressions and reverb.
j45nick Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 That's probably pretty much what she sounds like with some compressions and reverb. That's exactly my point: what does she sound like with no compression and no re-verb? I wasn't implying autotune, which I think is criminal.
Mojorule Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I note that on all live recordings of Adele singing this song, the thumping intro is played on an LG2 or similar. I had been wondering if some sort of mahogany Gibson was involved (my money had been on a J45 though...). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fmCoUjOMXU&feature=related
Eyecon Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 That little girl can surely sing, produced or not. I suspect someone already has the marketing wheels turning with her. I believe you are correct on the J-45.
thejtl Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Compression, eq and reverb or delay of some kind are pretty much standard on almost all vocal recordings. Produced to me means altered beyond the technical necessities.

Spot Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I believe you are correct on the J-45. ..it's actually an LG-2
E-minor7 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 A 'smart and modern' way to produce vocals is to let the singer deliver 10-15-20 run-throughs, keep them on different tracks and then edit a splendid larger than life lead from there. Ask Whitney Houstons producer about that – may she R.I.P. I think it's a fair way to deal – though nothing beats a good 1 in hole performance. Down-side is that you're done before you began. After all the thrill is to actually sing the tune with major sound and a band in the cans, isn't it. . . . This little girl-singer has it – let the Gods of Song forbid others to choose her material after she passes 15.
dubstar Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 in my opinion, Adele and that style of singing are very overrated...
ChrisA83 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 in my opinion, Adele and that style of singing are very overrated... What style of singing? In tune? Soulful?
thejtl Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 What style of singing? In tune? Soulful? Yeah, I can't imagine what's overrated about Adele's voice. One of the best going today and inspired by a long line of fantastic singers going down through the years.
Eyecon Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 in my opinion, Adele and that style of singing are very overrated... I wished I was as overrated as Adele or this 10 yr old girl. This little girl's video has more viewers than what the Grammy's and American Idol received combined! If I knew I could make a video (any video) and get 45 + million views, I could be retired and sitting on a beach playing my Gibson, living the high life!
dhanners623 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Most of the "popular" music out there today is tremendously overrated. Keep in mind that the music business is a popularity contest, not a meritocracy.
