not sure how kosher this is, but i guess we'll find out. apologies if this is wrong somehow.

there's a dude on the gear page selling a metallic pink sorrento ri from the 90s for $375, but he won't ship. i have no personal affiliation to the seller or the sale. its just been there a while because he refuses to ship. sad to see it sitting there. they're so rare and its an oddly pretty thing. so if any of you are in south east mass and are interested, here's the link:

pink sorrento

here's the text if you can't see the link:

1990s Epiphone Sorrento. Serial number begins with R96E which I believe indicates that it was made in Korea in 1996. The color is Burgundy Mist metallic. This guitar is fully hollow (not semi-hollow).

The neck width on this guitar is 1-5/8" with a string spacing of 1.358" (almost 1-3/8") at the first fret.

The guitar is in good condition with a few minor blemishes and some playing wear. The largest ding- the only one down to wood- is on the headstock near the last e in the name Epiphone. Recent bone nut. Recent RS Guitarworks Superpot volume pots and CTS tone pots with Gibson knobs, updated switch and Switchcraft jack installed (original pots, knobs and jack included).

Includes newer TKL hardshell case.

$375 no trades at this time

Local sale only

Guitar is located in South East Massachusetts.

always been fascinated with the idea of the sorrento. i'd probably own this if he'd ship, even if i have no use for it. an mij reissue would be a neat idea, too.

Eh, I like the color. I'd play the snot out of this guitar. What I'm wondering is if it is a legit color or a refin.

I never heard of an Epi, or Sorrento, in that color. Sorrentos are neat guitars, wish they'd bring them back, espescially with P-90's being so popular now.

I found a recnt thread where a mamber claims to have seen them in this color, but he could also be talking about this guitar, as it has been on the web for quite awhile.

From what I've read, Burgundy Mist is an old 1960's Epiphone color, but the pics I've seen do not look like this guitar. It is more of an actual burgundy color instead of pink.

it looks more like the fender burgundy mist than what i remember the old gibson metallic burgundy looking like. if they made an mij version with different inlays i'd be sold. if they made an mij version with a spruce top, ebony board and pretty inlays it would be a dream guitar. still don't know about the p90s- minis, perhaps. maybe in wine red, or that cool olive color they had back then.

There were a few Epi's made in metallic colors in the 90's --- limited runs. I've seen Casinos, Rivieras, and even an Emperor Regent in that Burgundy Mist finish. There were also some similar metallic blue and black ones made, as well as gold and silver sparkle.

$375 for that guitar with a hardshell case is a great deal (assuming there are no issues with the neck or electronics) --- if I were closer I'd be all over it!

I've seen a lot of the gold and silver sparkle archtop guitars. I've also seen a Sparkle Green Emperor Regent. Totally hideous. I dont question those colors becuase you can usually find other models of the same color from that era. However, I've never seen this color on anything Epiphone before.

This color being verified by you means a lot. You always seem to know your stuff...especially with archtops. Thanks for the verification!

It's legit - and a great guitar. I sold it to him. And I had researched the color when I bought the guitar on EBAY from a guy in Texas.

Epi did the Burgundy Mist and Silver and Gold Sparkle metallic figures on some Casino, Riviera, and Sorrento models in the 90's.

It has that thin at the nut, late 60's Gibson style fingerboard, but it plays beautifully. And he upgraded the nut and the wiring, so I imagine it's even better now.

I have had my eye on this for the last few weeks seeing as I live about 45 minutes away, I am hoping the price drops or he will open up to trades if he still unable to sell in the future! I wish I had the extra cash right now, if my 20w tube combo sells I will be hitting him up! This would be a lovely addition to my Wildkat and Casino!

Just go get it. Every time I wait for the price to drop, the guit disappears.

You won't see another MIK Sorrento in any color for a long, long time and $375 is a fair price that you can alway recoup.

Like I said if my amp sells I will but I absolutely have no free cash for this right now, if I did the ad would be down and I would be playing the weenie out of this thing!

The color on that Sorrento is Burgundy Mist, actually a Fender custom color from the early '60's. Early '90's Sorrentos were available in that color, as well as in gold sparkle, silver sparkle, and turquoise, as well as the usual sunburst and natural. Some people get Burgundy Mist mixed up with Sparkling Burgundy, which was a Gibson and Epiphone color from the mid-to-late '60's. Sparkling Burgundy was a deep metallic red-wine color, although it can fade to almost a greenish-gold shade with exposure to light, while Burgundy Mist is the metallic lavender seen on the Sorrento. Sparkling Burgundy seems to turn up most often on Gibson ES-330's, ES-335's, ES-345's, Trini Lopez Standards, and EB-2 basses, and the Epiphone versions, Casinos, Rivieras, and Rivoli basses. Gibson-made USA Epiphones were never available in Fender-style Burgundy Mist, although the '90's Sorrento reissues were.
