  1. My dad and I prepping to watch the Dallas / Seahawk game yesterday.... Rams implications.
  2. Whats crackin???? I've been on a little hiatus as my poor pops has been in and out of hospital the last three months, and is now back home with me (Hospice Care). He's in good spirits and I have been spending as much time as I can with him. The doctors and the case worker wanted to put him in a facility, but my dad was very against that because he's been living with me for the last three years. So we have nurse that stays with him six hours a day when we are at work, and I take care of him the rest of the day, and my siblings help share some of the responsibility so me and the wife can go do things together. I hope the holidays are going well for everyone.
  3. I like the collaborative environment where I work. Certainly there are exceptions, but I have always felt the work space is what you make of it.
  4. Sorry about that..... Been super busy at home and work. Anywhoo, the guitar never shipped so I received a refund..... A bit bummed but I knew there could be a chance it was a bad listing. Life goes on.
  5. Excellent Point. It's kinda like cars with carburetors, points and distributor caps...... I look back and what a pain that was when driving to Colorado on our family vacations in the 70's. Since I was mechanically inclined and once we made it over Raton Pass, there was this Resting Area before entering Trinidad I would remove the carburetor and change the jets and reset the points to compensate for the higher altitude. Funny thing is I haven't touched a timing light since the late 80's..... And I would never purchased a vehicle with a carb....well unless it was 1963 Split-Window Corvette.
  6. Added a few more detail to the Jimi Jam Room. Added an LA Kings Helmet and LA Lakers paraphernalia... waiting for the Dodger helmet to get hear. I also straightened out my three amp nightmare using a Morley ABC amp switcher, so all I have to do is plug in a guitar and switch to the corresponding amp. I also purchased an MXR EQ for the Panama amp..... It needed just a tad more EQ abilities to tighten up the bottom end a little.
  7. Agreed I would also not recommend trying to polish a nitro faded finish to a gloss. One of my pals tried doing this with one of his black faded les pauls with virtuoso polishing stuff and a white residue was trapped in the pores of the wood grain.... It was a total mess. I made him buy a number of soft bristle polishing wheels to get into the pores to remove the white residue. I was able to remove the residue and then used some Gibson polish and he was back to satin finish. lol.... More work than I wanted to do.
  8. Great guitar..... Some day I'll get me one. CONGRATS!!!!
  9. What happened is I played a guitar some time ago with a lacquered maple fret-board and the feel was awful. After that I avoided guitars with maple boards with the exception of a 2004 Gibson LPC I have that has one...... which I never play.
  10. Two of my very dear friends are police officers and they do understand the average good citizen takes them for granted and that's not what bothers them. It's when leaders at the top of the food chain do not publicly denounce violence, or in some cases promote it against law enforcement. It sends a horrible message to people that have little to no common sense, or the completely stupid that it's okay to abuse law enforcement.
  11. I think most of us can agree the Law Enforcement profession is a "dammed if you do and dammed if you don't" situation. It's been very difficult for law enforcement, especially the last 8 years for our folks in blue.
  12. My 2014 Midtown Custom has Richlite and to be honest it plays just fine. I'm really not sure how the wood species plays into the tone, but if there is a wood species I do not like on a fretboard it's maple. As long as Gibson doesn't use that on the Customs there will be no objections from me.
  13. Sorry to hear that. It really sucks losing someone so suddenly. Racing can be very dangerous and can just take one mechanical failure to change everything. I drag raced for about 15 years, but as I got older I became more cautious about putting myself in a position in being injured and forcing someone to nurse me back to health. Plus constantly changing clutches, pressure plates, flywheels, and clocking the scatter-shield every eight passes became tiresome. and rebuilding the TKO every year was no fun either. I sold both my drag cars about 10 years ago and my stress levels went down dramatically. My best time was 9.87 @ 142 mph with a 1.34 (60 ft) in the 1/4 mile. Once I was under the 10 second barrier I needed a different roll cage.... I just didn't want to deal with that either, as installing the first roll cage stiffened my back for about three weeks. But it was fun while it was still fun.
  14. We tried this one already and a certain member had to take it to an area that was just uncalled for. Basically this member will be perma-banned by tomorrow. For now this thread will stay active but will be heavily moderated until further notice
