  1. Great demo video. And who doesn't love watching/listening to greg play?
  2. I would love to see pictures of the full guitar front and back.
  3. Indeed. Fossilized walrus ivory to be exact. That may produce a brighter sound though.
  4. If you order bone or wooden pins and are worried they may be too small, I would order a larger diameter than you think you need a sand them down to fit perfectly. Bone sands as easily as wood, just make sure you don't breathe in the bone dust.
  5. What a restoration Jedzep! How did you get rid of all the wood damage on the top to the right of the bridge? I can't even see a trace of it in the final picture.
  6. I also agree, including the thinner studio models of the full sized guitars. Their sound just doesn't appeal to me as much as the standard models.
  7. Learning to set up my own guitars was a wonderful learning experience. And the trial and error occurred mostly with over filing and over sanding saddles and nuts that were inexpensive and easy to replace for another try. There are very good videos on youtube for truss rod information and adjustment to keep them unbroken. Paying for a set up is getting a fish, I'm very glad I learned how to fish instead.
  8. Thank you for calling me young. I work with a bunch of 20-30 year olds, and you have put a smile on my face for the rest of the day.
  9. I was under the impression that his technique works and he was serious. Jedzep, what's the verdict?
  10. Well, I'm 50 and have no idea what a tube tester is......
  11. Glad to see everything is back to normal. I was getting nervous......
  12. Good to hear you ended up happy with the purchase. Some underwhelming guitars can end up fantastic with a some tweaks and different strings. Playing, and maybe buying a J-29 is on my short list of things to do.
  13. That, and some of Dan's other truss rod videos were very informative. I followed his truss rod recommendations and adjustment techniques, and both my Gibsons are playing better. That's why I love this forum, I learned a lot with this thread. Big thanks to Leonard McCoy for starting it.
  14. This is exactly how I feel about maple b/s Gibsons.
  15. Geez. Lizard Spit, Gorilla Snot.... I didn't realize being gross was such a good marketing strategy.
  16. Maybe. My Lizard Spit string cleaner smells exactly like grape Kool-Aid. It’s the only reason why I use it.
  17. Honestly I’ve never posted a picture on a forum, and would probably have a hard time as well. But then I would just have one of my kids do it for me.
  18. Pictures? Would love to see it.
  19. I've seen little clay beads in baking catalogs for holding pie crusts flat while baking them. They might be similar to what you are describing. Now I just have a humidifier and hygrometer within 6-8 ' of my acoustics during the dry winter months. The guitars are happy and we all breathe better.
  20. Well, I like the smell of cow poop too, so that seals the deal.
  21. I actually like the smell of that stuff. To me it smells like cherries. Maybe I'm crazy.
  22. That is a gorgeous guitar. I love the look of GIbsons.
  23. +1. I've done that on all of my guitars, and I'm always glad I did.
