  1. He may have confused Chet with Florida Georgia Line. An easy mistake to make.
  2. I had my SJ200 a couple of years, before I happened to notice, when playing on the back porch what happened when the sun hit the flame maple back. I was just about to move, to get back in the shade - the flame literally lit up and became translucent! 3-D depth and shimmering. Like nothing I'd ever seen in a piece of wood!
  3. If it's only buzzing on the fret you're playing, don't play that fret. I heard a rattle in my SJ200 earlier this week when I took it down to play. Shook it upside down. A dead June bug fell out.
  4. "What strings do you use on your H'Bird TV?" " A long necked, maple Dove."
  5. Much more than just losing the brightness..... mellower, doesn't ring and chime, tone decay better. You get to hear the guitar without the strings getting in the way.
  6. No advice, just praise. That's a beauty. Bet it sounds dry and warm. Congrats!
  7. Elixir nano web 80/20 bronze medium lights on my TV. And, as EM7 noted - OLD.
  8. Chevys don't have enough cup holders.
  9. Glad to see that with a few exceptions the Gibsons have a morally correct, secure safe space. While the Martins are hanging on a shoe tree.
  10. Amazingly beautiful grain on that spruce. The bridge looks like a work of art. Sadly, someone put a pickup in there.
  11. It gets confusing. OP said he was interested in the Vintage model for the SJ200. That's listed as a currently available model with the B/S specs as maple. (There is a Deluxe model with RoseWood back and sides.) I suggested the also available Standard model, which is maple, but available in Natural. You brought up the TV model and said the later versions were RW. thought they were discontinued 5 or 6 years ago, and only came in maple. Could be wrong... could be a 'Limited Five Star Dealer" custom run out there. Not knowing if the OP's J45TV and Hummingbird TVs are NEW or USED (given they don't make them anymore), I guess at the end of the day, he'll have to decide what he's looking for in terms of establishing his own criteria. As far as the Dove goes..... "Second Verse, Same As The First".
  12. Assuming you want some well rounded variety - an SJ200 will get you further than a Dove. Different body, longer neck - and in natural, you'll get a different look. Obviously, in maple. More widely accepted and recognized as well. Probably a better 'investment' too.
  13. I'm not sure, and the differences may seem minor in some respects - but I'm guessing yours is a "Vintage" model, and not the older "True Vintage" model ? I use Elixir nano web 80/20 bronze medium lights on my TV. And, as EM7 noted - OLD.

  15. Congrats ! Mahogany, I assume? Bozeman era? Brand spankin' new ??? (Asking for a friend.)
  16. Not sure where you are - but if you can find a 'luggage repair' shop - they will know where to look to find one. G'luick.
  17. A 'yes' vote here. Depends on each person's definition of 'perfect', doesn't it? OP took time and effort to define his definition. Based on that - I'd say all 3 of my Gibsons are perfect. IE. "perfect to me, at this point in time, not having played every guitar in the universe'. I don't define perfect as 'unattainable, spiritually pure, artistically pristine and scientifically flawless' ... . Just 'perfect to me'. Would Segovia have wanted to play my SJ200 in a concert? Nope. Would Keith Richards want to play my H'Bird in the studio? Nope. But more to the point - Would I trade my SJ200 for one of Segovia's classical guitars? Nope. For one of Keith's electrics? Nope again. Does that mean I have ... (shudders) Imperfect Taste or Faulty Criteria? Probably. (yawns) Does it mean I leave my strings on Too Long ? Definitely. But I think my Ford Taurus SHO is perfect ... so.... And then there's Emmylou Harris ....
  18. Exceptionally inspiring and informative ! Thanks!!
  19. You might get 40% on a 2018 in some models. But the H'Bird Vintage is more desirable, harder to find and in the current model year - I'd not hold my breath.
  20. Truly a beauty! Welcome Aboard.... hope you settle in here and join our many conversations on Gibsons, etc. We may not always agree on everything - but I know we all agree - you have a keeper !
