  1. Couldn't help but notice all of FZFans comments are gone. Sort of changes the context.
  2. FZFan -  you know I've disagreed with you many times. But agreed with you as many. Sad to see your posted comments on the Springsteen thread over on the Acoustic Forum gone.  Free Speech is over-rated I guess in the minds of those who try to shift a discussion into an argument.  Hang in there. There's more to life than guitars, and more to guitar forums than arguing the merits of double pick guards and period correct J-45 tuners.   FortyearsPickn

  3. BBG, At the risks of sounding 'pathetic' ... I don't mind it if an 'artist' uses his talent to communicate any message he feels strongly enough about to put it out there, AS ART. If the art is good, and the message interesting, I will listen. I DO mind it when any person uses their position of fame - to intimidate others into abandoning their own views, or their resolve to develop their own views. In this country, we have had, for decades, a bias in the media (which entertainers are part of) which provides them with more face time, outside of their actual performances. Therefore, in order to get ahead, you have to occasionally come up with a statement that will make the headlines trashing something or someone on the other side. Your Liam Neeson is a case in point.
  4. Steven, I'm sorry if my post reminded you of an acid reflux belch, but not to extent I would apologize for it. I chose to comment on the statement 'Fortunately you are in the minority.' because I felt it was an attempt to squelch a legitimate comment from another forum member. As far as the double pick guards - I like them visually - balance, and all that. But wouldn't want a second one on my SJ-200. Like W.C.Fields said "Women are like elephants, I like to look at them, but wouldn't want to own one."
  5. "Not sure I understand that sentiment. His politics and worldview shape his music. You don't have one without the other. He comes from a long line of songwriters who tell stories of the world and people around them, as they are. It is what folk musicians have done for centuries. Fortunately, your opinion is in the minority." So, you're a big fan of Barbara Streisand? Then I would assume other artistic types, like film maker Michael Moore? And the there's the example of the cast of Hamilton on Broadway - calling out the VP-elect in the audience. Rolling Thunder - at some performances Dylan wore whiteface, or even a mask. One fan called out - "Hey, why the mask?" Dylan's response - "The lyrics speak for themselves."
  6. What I have sounds similar: Gripmaster by IMC products corp. 4 springs, each independent with a button/pad on top so each of your fingers has its own resistance. The other side has a padded contoured rubber cushion where you rest it on the other side of your hand to squeeze. Comes in 3 tensions I believe. I assume it builds strength, and is not 'therapeutic' in the sense it would fix a problem. G'Luck.
  7. I believe the little CS decal goes on guitars that DON'T have stray glue drops inside.
  8. Warranties are on the Balance Sheet as 'Future Liabilities". In other words - in order to get an accountant to sign off on your financial statements, which is an absolute must - you have to estimate fairly based on history and consistent quality, how many returns/repairs can be expected. For example, if you sold your Honda Civic and knew the purchaser would likely comeback in the summer because the AC you swore worked, really didn't - you would take the $10k he paid you, and only deposit $9k in your checking account, and put $1K in your sock drawer - to give him in July. So - yes, the warranties will be honored. Not sure what the warranty coverage is in Canada, though it should be unchanged.
  9. Yes plastic. You should be able to see a line running the length from the mold. Some can hear an improvement in tone from bone, some can't. More folks hear a more noticeable change if they use brass pins. But it's subjective as to whether it's an 'improvement'. I changed to bone on mine - because of a aversion to cheap looking pins.
  10. I have no problem with any type of music, if the OR Team feels it will help them do a better job. Of course, if they put on Rap - I'll get up and leave.
  11. Which, of course, is not a problem if you only buy Real Vintage !
  12. People who throw the F-word around on the internet do not merit my spending any time on their other words. (I guess the owner of the youtube agreed - it doesn't look like it's available anymore.)
  13. It may not be worthwhile getting excited about the sound of a set of strings that came on a brand new guitar - not just for the reasons cited (provenance) but because the guitar itself will go through a process of aging and sounding better for a couple of years. So, the brand/model that might sound good in the first month might not sound as good in the 24th month. Or, more to the point - something else might sound better. EM7 mentions he had a set of Masterbuilt 80/20s on his H'Bird for 2 years. I just checked yesterday and realized I've has a set of Elixir 8020 medium light 12s on for nearly 3 years and they still sound great. Now, it only gets played a couple of times a week, and I tune down a full step - but they sound too good to change! I think the answer to the OPs' question might be - now, a year down the road, what sounds good on the guitar as shifted from being lumber to an instrument?
  14. Bradster - if that doesn't get your juices flowing - nothing will !
  15. I've heard sound clips of J45Ws and they were Very Good! Congrats.
  16. I've got a wall hanger and a floor stand tripod. My only complaint is, on the latter, the guitar hangs at a slight angle. The lower bout only touches one of the back supports, because the piece that has the yoke on it is off by a slight angle. Somewhere between 5 an 10 degrees - not enough to cause a problem with functionality or safety. Just sort of irritating. Never a problem with the nitro.
  17. I would guess that they want to make sure th adhesive isn't so strong the pickguards can't be removed without damaging the finish or the wood. So, they may feel it's safer to have a 2% failure rate on the conservative side of an occasional corner lifting, as opposed to 2% of the faces being ruined.
  18. Since yours is new, it might work out. I’d heat it for less than a minute with a hairdryer on low to soften the adhesive. Should be easy to clamp since it’s right by the sound hole.
  19. KsD - Thank you sir!

  20. KSD, My fat fingers inadvertently typed a "-1" instead of a "+1" on an opening post by BlindBoyGrunt re. iPad Lyrics a few minutes ago.

Can you please delete or reverse that score?

Or tell me hoe to do it myself?

    Thanks! Jim (40yp)

  21. I believe they did do 'special projects' back then. Ren was the head at Bozeman. I'd hold on to that guitar if I were me.
  22. I can hammer all day like a Mexican Roofer after a hail storm using the barre on F, but I can see pull-offs would be impossible. Maybe that's why I don't do those. I only use my thumb for B7. But, as I've said countless times before - I'm a hacker, not a player! edit: OK, sometime D7 too !
  23. Good looking tab. Easy to follow. Thanks. One question - why suggested chord fingering on the "F" is to use the thumb on the first fret of the 6th string?
  24. You know you're getting old when some Granny's start looking hot !
