  1. I had my SJ200 a couple of years, before I happened to notice, when playing on the back porch what happened when the sun hit the flame maple back. I was just about to move, to get back in the shade - the flame literally lit up and became translucent! 3-D depth and shimmering. Like nothing I'd ever seen in a piece of wood!
  2. If it's only buzzing on the fret you're playing, don't play that fret. I heard a rattle in my SJ200 earlier this week when I took it down to play. Shook it upside down. A dead June bug fell out.
  3. "What strings do you use on your H'Bird TV?" " A long necked, maple Dove."
  4. Much more than just losing the brightness..... mellower, doesn't ring and chime, tone decay better. You get to hear the guitar without the strings getting in the way.
  5. No advice, just praise. That's a beauty. Bet it sounds dry and warm. Congrats!
  6. Elixir nano web 80/20 bronze medium lights on my TV. And, as EM7 noted - OLD.
  7. Chevys don't have enough cup holders.
  8. Glad to see that with a few exceptions the Gibsons have a morally correct, secure safe space. While the Martins are hanging on a shoe tree.
  9. Amazingly beautiful grain on that spruce. The bridge looks like a work of art. Sadly, someone put a pickup in there.
  10. It gets confusing. OP said he was interested in the Vintage model for the SJ200. That's listed as a currently available model with the B/S specs as maple. (There is a Deluxe model with RoseWood back and sides.) I suggested the also available Standard model, which is maple, but available in Natural. You brought up the TV model and said the later versions were RW. thought they were discontinued 5 or 6 years ago, and only came in maple. Could be wrong... could be a 'Limited Five Star Dealer" custom run out there. Not knowing if the OP's J45TV and Hummingbird TVs are NEW or USED (given they don't make them anymore), I guess at the end of the day, he'll have to decide what he's looking for in terms of establishing his own criteria. As far as the Dove goes..... "Second Verse, Same As The First".
  11. Assuming you want some well rounded variety - an SJ200 will get you further than a Dove. Different body, longer neck - and in natural, you'll get a different look. Obviously, in maple. More widely accepted and recognized as well. Probably a better 'investment' too.
  12. I'm not sure, and the differences may seem minor in some respects - but I'm guessing yours is a "Vintage" model, and not the older "True Vintage" model ? I use Elixir nano web 80/20 bronze medium lights on my TV. And, as EM7 noted - OLD.

  14. Not sure where you are - but if you can find a 'luggage repair' shop - they will know where to look to find one. G'luick.
  15. Exceptionally inspiring and informative ! Thanks!!
  16. Wowsers! That was impressive! I never, ever would even attempt such a difficult piece. And you brought it off. With a slightly, small asterisk * ! Hope that you, your guitar, and your 'pipes' are high and dry with the 10" of rain tropical storm Imelda brought you. Last time - in Houston, you almost bought the farm. Hope you're on higher ground in Galveston!
  17. Also in this apparent sweet spot - I'm a little less thanr 2 months younger than this ageless angel. I am amazed, given the hard life of "Living on the road my friend" for 50 years - how she can look better and sing better than all the 20 year old divas in Nashville and Austin! My face looks more like Willie's than anything. Notwithstanding decades old suggestions it looked like the south end of a horse heading north.
  18. Welcome Aboard! I'm sure she sounds as good as she looks. I wouldn't worry about the neck at all. Gibson Acoustics are sometimes built to be "intentionally unique". They will make small changes as they morph into a new model or year. They have 'custom shop' runs of 50 which are ordered to be different. You can be assured that, regardless of the stain they used on your neck, the same quality is there. G'Luck!
  19. For any here not yet a fan, or any interested in seeing Emmylou before she was 'discovered' . Very moving. THE LADY OF THE ROSE I know a soft lady, she lives up the stairs, And sometimes she combs it down, her long greying hair And she wears it gathered loosely up, pinned back with a rose, Whose petals are turning black and beginning to fold. Don't talk of where life goes, she won't understand, She'll pretend she can't hear you, though you know that she can. Oh everyone has tried to teach her to say goodbye, But she just can't stand it when the roses die. And her eyes are lost children that wait for him, From the morning to the day, 'till the lights are dim And the nights must be long and lonely more than I'll ever know, She just won't let the roses go. He's not in the backyard, he's not in the hall, And if she can't hear his laughter, he's not there at all So she waits and waits, and waits for nothing, But in her heart she knows, that it's gone and gone for ever, And it tears apart her soul. So I'll leave my soft lady with her dying rose, I can't reach you with all your doors and windows closed, But I wonder if I'll ever love the way you do, And have it break me, the way it's broken you.
  20. I've had an RMS for 6 years I really like. (RMS AC40 - for my SJ200) But, I only use it when I want to irritate my neighbor who refused to take her "Women For ........." political bumper sticker off her car up until last year.
