  1. I had a handful of those clear plastic Dobro fingerpicks several decades ago. Don't know where they wound up. Some were small, some medium. Never got on with them either - didn't like the curved back angle of the pick part. AND - didn't know you could shape the finger brace part by heating it. Now use metal finger picks (plastic for thumb). National brand. Different pick shaped for each finger. Tweak several times to get just right. Color code w/paint so I know whether it goes on I or M. (Yeah, OCD).
  2. Jimmy Buffet has passed. Moved on to that Cheeseburger in Paradise. A really great entertainer - from the cheap seats, it seems he's created a whole new genre of music. I remember he even had a role in a tv show a few years ago - Blue Bloods. Someone was impersonating him. Only in fantasy land could someone be seriously taken for a one in a billion public figure. Peace.
  3. So, do we blame the fires on the lack of proper safety procedures on the part of the power utility, or on the electricity demands of a population that tripled there in our lifetime? OR - the people who carelessly created those extra million people ? Root Cause analysis would suggest the latter. Our parents are at fault. The Greatest Generation was actually The Worst.
  4. Couldn't agree more ! Glue Drops Be Damned, Full Speed Ahead !
  5. Electronics aside, I don't remember ever hearing of a 'standard Gibson User's Manual' coming with their acoustics. I'd be surprised if one existed. Wonder if I can call Gibson for the case candy that didn't come with my used SJ200? Or for the Cali-Girl case that GC swapped out for a TKL on my used H'Bird TV ?
  6. "On The Street Where You Live" My Fair Lady/Lerner & Loewe
  7. So, what's the final judgement - Real or Memorex? Is peter J's a faker ?
  8. I have had a maple for 15+ years - it is my best sounding guitar. Better than any I've played anywhere. But, I'm not anywhere close to being an expert.
  9. I can understand the previous century, but we boomers ought to remember the aughts. Use to be a tired joke - 50+ years ago, people would feign an old fart voice and say "I remember, back in 'aught-two' we got so much snow.... etc.". As far as 'case candy' from 11 years ago. It's anyone's guess. They change it regularly. I got a leather key fob pick holder, but no truss rod wrench about 7 years ago. Nothing for the pickup. Never heard of any 'instruction manuals' for the guitar or the Electronics On Board. But, like Murph, I don't remember what I don't remember.
  10. Out of curiosity - I looked at your other 3 posts on this site. You asked the same question in the Gibson Custom sub-forum 2 1/2 years ago and posted pics. Seemed you got satisfactory answers back then. Photos seem to show a legitimate, authentic Gibson DiF. What has changed to cause you to raise the issue again ?
  11. Can you provide more info than your original post ? Did you buy it new in 2014 at a reputable dealer, one that is an 'authorized' Gibson dealer? Does it have matching s/n's ? Imprinted on the back of the headstock and on the label in the sound hole? Did you get a 'Gibson' hardcore with the Certificate of Authenticity and listing of specifications ? When you say 'different', what do you mean? Pickguard, neck inlays. coloring of guitar face? tone wood different? Three screws in the Truss Rod Cover. Yes, a picture or two would help. And, when you say 'different from the others' what are you comparing yours to? Photos of guitars on the internet? One(s) you have seen in person? Here's the DiF from Gibson's site currently. Where is yours different from this one? https://www.gibson.com/en-US/Acoustic-Guitar/ACC46V941/Antique-Natural
  12. Lars, here's one at an East Coast GC. Great shape - but double your budget. You should seriously consider looking for an opportunity to play another, just to ramp up the gas. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Gibson/SJ200-Original-Acoustic-Electric-Guitar.gc
  13. It is possible that jspt46 installed the battery holder in that location, and not Gibson. It is unlikely that the Cordura fabric pouch would rattle, let alone cause damage.
  14. Em7, that picture of the 'Open Book'... if you stare at it long enough.... Well, never mind.
  15. Yep. I can't say any brand of string or pick has ever 'inspired' me to play better. A good guitar does though!
  16. Yep... I guess when I saw him on The Voice, it made me even LESS likely to buy one of his records. (less than zero!) Lambert - I remember reading articles about her when she was just starting out - thinking 'she sounds like the real deal'. Not surprised the marriage didn't last. But, then - that is a superficial snarky thing to say, even for me.
  17. There's a sub-forum here for Epiphone fans...
  18. Best of Luck. You might want to leave politics out of your performance.
  19. Aaaach. Sorry. Jumped to the lyrics and didn't see the link for the song. Great job on the chords and melody too!!
  20. Our version of that idiom is 'knight in shining armor' and 'knight in shining armor on his white horse'. Also fading from usage. Was at it's height in the 40s I think - and a device that appeared in the super popular movie - "White Christmas". Bing Crosby with Rosemary Clooney as the 'fair damsel'. I agree, evaporating fast. We eschewed the 'prince' part for obvious reasons. But rest of it would be considered evil by the Wokies: Toxic Masculinity for starters.
  21. Great lyrics. Will be interesting finding a melody and chords to put a frame around it and hang it on the wall !
  22. Em7th - Race Horse. Dead Horse. Hobby Horse. High Horse. Gift Horse. Dark Horse. There are probably more I can't think of. Could probably write a Doctoral Thesis in English Literature on where, why and how. Horses, like dogs, occupy a special place in human history - both are fondly looked at. So, Work Horse probably was a concept before English was. I guess I'd call my J45 a 'work horse' in the sense that I grab it 10x more often than its other two stablemates - the SJ200 and H'Bird.
  23. Plus - I found Merciful's 3 foot classical James Bond theme guy much more interesting than the OP's question on a 50 year old guitar probably owned by 7 people before him.
  24. Oh, GIBSON Explorers ... I thought we were talking about FORD Explorers. But - it is always cool when someone replies "Sorry, I don't know either." Sad emoji guy - there's only two habitual offenders here. One isn't on this thread. Yet.
