  1. I'm pretty sure the 2012's had a "rounded c" type neck. I have a 2011 and it has a rounded c and my buddy's 2013/2014 has one also. They're not really big but they're for sure fatter than a slim taper or "60's slim taper." They aren't necessarily super thick but they have more rounded shoulders. Definitely harder for me to get my fingers around than a 60's neck.
  2. Nice!! They look like they're very affordable. ✔️
  3. If y'all don't know why pickups need to sit flat, you need to learn a little about how pickups work and how the two different coils work together. Then it becomes kind of obvious.
  4. Speaking of badly cut nuts, since Gibson sets up the guitars with 9's now (another brilliant Henry move), anybody who plays 10's has a "badly cut nut" right out of the factory. So if you use 10's, like 500% of the public, you'll need to go to the luthier and have the nut reworked for 10's, or buy yourself a set of nut files and do it yourself. Doh!
  5. Done!! Looks like a fun job!
  6. As much as we're busting on these guys, somebody'd better buy a guitar from them, just to keep them hanging, no? If I had figured out how to sneak another one into the house, I'd'a bought another by now.
  7. I'll check with my buddy Jack Es, the original designer of the ES guitars.
  8. What Twang Gang said. Pickups are supposed to sit flat. ES owners have dealt with this for ages. You guys can have yours tilted. I'll make mine flat. Not complicated. It's just the right way to make something. If you don't make it right, then, next thing you know, you start making excuses.
  9. Ampified Parts has a few - https://www.amplifiedparts.com/search/node/on off on switch
  10. Pickup rings with the wrong angle are a known isssue that's never been addressed, period. Gibson hasn't cared that their pickup rings don't fit all the different top shapes in their line for years and years and years. They use one type of pickup ring and that's it. Pickups don't sit flat on a $5,000 guitar? Who cares, get used to it. Almost every ES guitar has pickup rings with the wrong angle. They don't care, period. People have been pointing that out for years. How much does it cost to make a flat pickup ring? Too much. Almost all ES guitars need a flat pickup ring for the neck pickup. ES-339 owners often turned the neck pickup ring around backwards, because the backwards slope fit the top of the guitar better. I just always made flat pickup rings for my ES's. I'll make Gibson some flat pickup rings for $20.00 apiece. Or they can have their regular guys do it for $1.00.
  11. I just bought a new Les Paul and the workmanship was superb! I wouldn't worry too much about that. But it's all business now between me and Gibson. No more Mr. Congeniality. I thought maybe Henry might invite me and Kathy over for supper sometime... and that never happened, so I'm not expecting much now, with the new guys being so busy and everything. I just figure if the guitars worth it I'll buy it.
  12. Maybe they just need glasses and couldn't see what they're doing was wrong, lol. I needed glasses for years before I broke down and got them.
  13. Gibson's DO stay in tune. They got that figured out.
  14. As long as we're going with "What Would the Fonz Do?" model - which has its plusses - Everybody worth their leathers knows the Fonz was too cool to sue anybody. Period. Over anything. He'd just say something cool and leave it at that. 😎 Acting like the Fonz - 😎 Sticking your foot in every door that happens to be open just to see if there's cash lying around in there - 🤓
  15. Here's more fun. "They seemed like nice people." https://guitar.com/news/industry-news/gibson-sues-dean-guitars-trademark-infringement/?utm_source=hootsuite&utm_medium=&utm_term=&utm_content=&utm_campaign=
  16. They just bought the place. Two seconds ago they didn't have the right to wear Gibson underwear. There's no need to run right out and start complaining about all the trouble and responsibilities that have been heaped on their shoulders all of a sudden. "Oh Gosh, look at all this counterfeiting! We didn't know this was coming." Don't buy the place if you don't like being top dog. Sheesh. And the guy on the left in the Harley Benton vid. I'm not buying from him either, lol.
  17. New band, my "Under New Management Model" 2019 Les Paul and my 1974 Fender Bassman50 in a new stylish 15"Combo - Not sure if this video link will work - [facebookvideo]
