  1. Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam) The Rolling Stones (Mick and Ronnie,Keith still plays gibsons in the studio but not live) Elvis Costello Sheryl Crow The Beatles Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day Oasis JC
  2. Gibson didn't do torrification at any level until 2014 I believe. JC
  3. Koa and Walnut have some of the qualities of maple in them. Most people are turned off by Koa because they think it will sound as good as it looks right away...They don't realize koa is a treasure you have to play for a few years before it opens up. Some koa does sound good right out of the box but most of it needs playing time to fully blossom.Koa is best described as a mix between maple and mahogany JC
  4. Larry, Exactly these are for the modern player or for the studio guy who needs a certain sound. The 3 or 4 I played sounded as good as the J 200 Vintage they had at the show.So they still have the gibson tone just the look and feel are different. JC
  5. Played several of the new line at NAMM. Beautiful guitars and sounded amazing. JC
  6. Personally I don't see the All North American woods as a compromise. I see it as Gibson trying to go the extra mile for the guys that have wanted a gibson but could not yet afford one until now. I think the woods they use to build that guitar are fantastic. JC
  7. I have played some great J 15's . Even if those rumors were true ...If you keep light strings on the guitar you should not have a problem. Some people are never satisfied ...In the 30's gibson introduced the very lightly built L 00's and they were meant to be played with thin strings some people would start putting heavier strings and the poor little guitars would get damaged do to this. J 15's are very good entry guitars from gibson. JC
  8. Would you care to post photos of the inside of your L 00 koa? I wanna try and make this post about guitars again. To post photos first you need to upload them to photobucket ,then once uploaded you can past the image url here for us to see I am curious JC
  9. This baffles me i have always respected you Buc ...But I see no reason to be rude to a fellow guitar player seeking help or support Lets try and help the man with some encouragement JC
  10. I feel bad that you are stuck with a guitar that is not perfect to your eye. Any warranty is void already since you applied the cleaner which discoulored the finish. What can you tell us about the sound??? Do you love it? If you want respectful advice here it goes: If you love the sound of the guitar over time you will play it alot and eventually your sweat will start to make the bindings turn yellow. As the years progress you will find the guitar will level out any imperfections because you will start to scratch and dent the guitar just because you love the sound. If you love the sound don't ever let that guitar go. She will give you many hours of joy and you will make great music. Again Koa L 00's are as rare as a Leprechaun with a pot of gold JC
  11. Beautiful guitar. If you love the sound of the guitar don't ever let it go. Koa L 00's are very rare. As far as the drop of glue (it is very tiny and I have seen worse) But as suggested before try gently shaving it off with a blade. If that were my guitar. It would be perfect the way it is. JC
  12. 2011 Hummingbird T.V custom 60's cherry LH .One of the last few gibsons Ren Ferguson laid his hands on: JC
  13. No it's just that Henry J (the guy who runs gibson) wants gibson to be responsible and have good environmental practices JC
  14. Not really .Gibson just isn't interested in using ebony anymore ... They want to be as responsible as they can with the environment .They don't want to keep encouraging the use of ebony .The last model to my knowledge that they used ebony on was in 2012 for the 1930's Golden Era Super Jumbo.Jason Jones(gibson montana) at one point stated that they were looking for alternative materials. If they wanted to they could get the slightly streaked ebony because Bob Taylor says there is 10 times more of that than of the stark black one. JC
  15. Folks , They must have some magical leperchauns buildings these L 00's : Beautiful sound Matt & Tony are going to star in a movie called "battle of the beards" JC
  16. Here's a video on my 2007 lefty sj 200 tv : Thanks for the info Dan JC
  17. Bob , this looks like the mini you mentioned before : it looks much really really small . JC
  18. thanks Bob . It's always a pleasure to read you I know the guys in Bozeman built at least 1 replica (I guess with the specs Ren took) : I don't know where this guitar ended up ... But I contacted Fuller's once to see if they could get me a replica without the Autry (so you are not alone !!) JC
  19. folks , for those of you who like the 12 fret versions or are fans of the old country western scene : here's some info on the guitar : Gibson presented Autry with this custom-made guitar model J-200 #462E in 1939. He owned two of these flat-top guitars which are now very rare and valuable JC
  20. Ken , how are you doing ??? . I'm doing a lot better than last time we spoke . You and your family are constantly in my thoughts . God Bless
