  1. Folks, Check out this photo from Hitparader (May 1972) featuring Mickey J holding a belly down Hummingbird. You can peak a bit through the soundhole just enough to see thicker bracing. I think this bird was probably one he kept around the house because there are other pictures of him serenading Bianca with it. JC
  2. I disagree on the fact that the Everly Brothers chose that body size because they were “small” ... Phil was 6 ft. They most likely chose that size because they needed notes to fly out of the guitar quickly . Don Every recently said that the Everly Bros guitars were cool looking but not the best sounding. What he meant by that I guess is that they lacked the “rumble” that other Gibsons had. But that’s the way those guitars were designed . Jake Bugg then says he played one of the original Everly models and that to him it was magic. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. JC
  3. Ronnie played his signature J 200 and Keith used a Collings: Mick used his cherry Hbird for Dead Flowers. JC
  4. Gilmour’s Costello Century of Progress sold for $68,750 . That might be the highest price a Bozeman era instrument ever sold for (not including the Master Museums) JC
  5. Quick Decay . Bright tone. Clear note separation. JC
  6. The guitar is a J 200 M (for mini) They are the same as the L 200 Emmylou Harris body but with Quilted Maple b/s and her’s appears to have Ebony board/bridge. Great guitar. Thanks for sharing. JC
  7. Folks, Check out this righty BD 200 turned lefty : the playing starts at the 20 second mark. JC
  8. The dove has flamed maple back and sides, rosewood board+ bridge.3 piece maple neck. Long Scale the firebird has quilted maple back and sides , richlite board + bridge(it used to be Ebony).2 piece maple neck.Long Scale Not sure about the nut width JC
  9. That was a set-up. First the program he was featured on was called “Hypotheticals” and everyone who participated was asked to speak “freely” When asked what he would do if the writer was eating at the same restaurant ... Yusuf replied “it depends on my mood, I may want to concentrate more on my meal” further more he said “ I can’t answer the question very clearly” the interviewer kept pressing so Yusuf resorted to saying other things based on muslim scripture. Talking about something in a “hypothetical manner” isn’t calling for the death of anybody nor is it “supporting death” The British press jumped at the chance to hurt Yusuf’s public perception because he was a muslim. They didn’t understand the religion at the time and it’s human nature to fear what we don’t understand. Everyone who thinks he is some guy who wishes death upon others probably doesn’t know that the name of the show was “Hypotheticals” and wasn’t meant to be taken literally rather he was just stating what muslim scripture had to say about “capital offenses”. Either way ... musicians should be judged by their music and not for their personal views or thoughts. JC
  10. Also known as “MoTo” or “Pearloid” JC
  11. Folks, Check out this gorgeous early 60’s cherry finished J 200 w/ Double Guards Bruce is using in the video: Norm talks about the guitar in this clip: Enjoy!!! JC
  12. Personally ... I judge him by how the guitar sounded at the end. It sounded like a Gibson jumbo should. He was clear to state multiple times that the owner didn’t want to put too much money into the repair. If I was the owner of that guitar I would have put some good money into restoration. JC
  13. I was gonna post this and then forgot. I watched part 1 non stop too !!! Thanks for sharing. JC
  14. The good folks of Gibson gifted an Sj 200 to him in cerebration of his induction to the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. His quote read “ Thank You Gibson, She sounds as good as she looks” what a fantastic gesture from the company! JC
  15. Folks, This is a fantastic demo of a used Costello Century: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cNMVkkqGv88 David Gilmour of Pink Floyd owned one of these which has now been put into his 120 guitar auction. As the owner of one of these ... I can honestly say they are maple beasts well worth the price. Enjoy JC
  16. Correct !!! It’s a very bad chinese copy. JC
  17. Folks, One of the back bracings has come loose after 10 years on my 200. I can get a business card through a part of the brace. This should be an easy fix , right? Went ahead and removed the strings until I can have it serviced. JC
  18. Tom, I’m sorry to hear this. I’ll keep you in my prayers. We are all your friends here. Rest in Peace Mrs.Barnwell JC
  19. I voted 000-28. But given the chance I’d make in a 000-18 JC
