  1. Tom, All fine guitars !! My favorite was the 43 Rosewood Southern Jumbo ... Which is surprising because I hate RW. Gibson is doing a reissue of the RW SJ and I was able to play one at NAMM.I noticed your RW Southern Jumbo isn’t muddy like a lot of the Martins. Yours was strong yet absolutely clear. The reissue I played back in January exhibited these same characteristics .So Gibson is paying some attention to the tone of the older guitars. Thanks and keep picking. JC
  2. Tom, Thanks for sharing if you can post a demo here we can have a bit of a comparison of the reissue to a vintage one. JC
  3. Here’s another great review: the red banner in the music villa editing says 1936 jumbo ... that’s just a mistake. The actual video is titled 1934 jumbo. JC
  4. Folks, Check it out: Just as incredible as I remember from NAMM. It sounded the best on my laptop... I’m guessing it overpowered by phone speakers. JC
  5. Tom, Nice J 55 ,Have you demoed it yet? always a treat to see your collection! All the best !! Here’s a 36 AJ demo : JC
  6. This Southern Jumbo 1943 has 20 frets: The one on the website has 19. 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️ JC
  7. Folks, Another incredible Dove: JC
  8. Honestly I don’t think in terms of better or worse ... I think the standard hummingbird or the modern are great guitars but the historics (even if not 100 percent accurate) do capture a certain spirit present in the old ones. JC
  9. Folks, Check it out: I preferred the LG 2 . JC
  10. Folks , Courtesy of our old pal Fred,Ren talks about this old J 185 : JC
  11. I have a True Vintage SJ 200 from 2007. It does have the serial number on the headstock.Orange label that only says SJ 200 and brown/pink case. The first year models were all Sitka Spruce tops. JC
  12. Here’s a demo: It sounds abdolutely killer if you ask me. JC
  13. Who knows ? But the official price is $5999 for the US. I have not seen that MSRP anywhere else. This is a great guitar.I can tell you that much. JC
  14. Nick, Here’s Another shot: Not sure if you can tell from this one. JC
  15. Bozeman and all other Gibson factories are closed. My Sheryl Crow Country Western came into favorite shop last week (after more than 6 months) only to be informed that they accidentally put a Strap button on it (I specified no electronics or no strap button because I never play out) , They told me I would receive a new one which they would begin building right after Bozeman opened it doors (no ETA was given ) JC
  16. Well, I never said it mattered or took away from the guitar , what I am saying is if indeed it is a historic ( it says NEW in the description) it’s typical Gibson funny business with the features. So you’ve got the wrong idea if you think I’m pointing this out as a flaw . As others have observed it might not be a historic , So I could be totally wrong but it does say it’s a new item. I haven’t ordered anything from this historic line yet. But I am thinking about it . The Original series is more in line with what I like ... (non torrified wood) but you never know. JC
  17. Well it says NEW , Jim sometimes doesn’t label stuff with 100 percent accuracy. But if you count the frets they are 19 frets total like the current historics. Either that or it’s a custom and he hasn’t specified it. JC
  18. Folks, Someone at the factory put a banner logo on this historic J 35 at Southpaws: https://www.southpawguitars.com/gibson-left-handed-guitars/2314-gibson-lefty-j35-vintage.html It should have a silkscreen: https://www.gibson.com/Guitar/ACC6G425/1936-J-35/Vintage-Sunburst Typical Gibson Weirdness JC
  19. The AJ has the most bass. The Rosewood Southern Jumbo had a folk vibe to it ... It sounded to me like a songwriters guitar rather than a Bluegrass man’s guitar. I’m trying to rationalize buying one . I loved it! JC
  20. Folks, Check it out: Sounds awesome to my ears JC
  21. I’ve played all three of those. The OJ is perpetual rumble (it has a massive neck) The AJ and SJ are very similar I’d say they sounded really glassy and not muddy at all. But the SJ is short scale vs Long Scale on the AJ.The necks on both of these didn’t feel massive (at least to me) . JC
  22. Have you followed the thread of this guitar ? There’s 2 parts before this one. JC
