  1. It's a reissue of a banner x-braced all mahogany LG1. From what I've read and learned from John Thomas and Willi, in 1942 Gibson built a lot of about 100 each of LG1, LG2 and LG3's. All x-braced with different tone woods and finishes. They did not all ship that year but were spread out over the next few years. Some call them 1942 models because of their build year and others date them to their ship date as they show in the ledgers. After 1942 they only built the LG2 until after the war then the LG1 and LG3 was reintroduced but the LG1's were now entry level ladder braced guitars. John Thomas loaned his LG1 to Gibson so they could make the reissue. NL is Nick Lucas
  2. I really like the 000-28 EC SB I have. One of my favorites. A few years ago I had a custom built and did the 0000 (or M) body. That's very comfortable too.
  3. Plenty of Gibson small body guitars in your price range LG2 Banner RI, L1 F-hole, L00 RI, NL, LC, CJ165
  4. Post this in the acoustic forum. You'll get more response
  5. Have you tried any of the newer ones? Next time you’re traveling through KY stop by and play my Stage Deluxe Ltd (hog), Stage Deluxe RW and the Jackson Browne (walnut). Didn’t you have a JB a while back?
  6. Just a notch example. That's a notched straight edge. https://www.stewmac.com/Luthier_Tools/Types_of_Tools/Straightedges/Precision_Notched_Straightedge.html
  7. One of days when I have nothing better to do I'm going to notch a saddle and see how it affects the sound if any.
  8. This sounds like a perfect application for a rain song guitar
  9. I didn’t think about the heat. Good call. I have a few of the Humiditraks in some of my cases. They work very nicely.
  10. I’ve pulled a few saddles from piezo strips and most of them had a slight knife edge to ensure contact, not the perfectly flat, square, perpendicular edge I see on most acoustics.
  11. Being exposed to varying conditions, your humidipaks may only last a few months but in my opinion they’re well worth it. You can buy them in bulk packages. I would not be polishing it that often. Just wipe it off after using it. I sometimes polish my guitars every few years. Normal areas to wipe down are the strings, fretboard and where your forearm rests. If the case is going to get shook up a lot, I would pack some extra cotton cloth beneath the headstock for extra support. Enjoy it and welcome to forum.
  12. Just a quick search. I would not put too much into the guitar. It's beyond restoring value-wise and has no sentimental value. JMHO But it's still cool looking. Better have it checked out structurally before soaking any money into it. https://www.ebay.com/i/264394825910?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=264394825910&targetid=596465734708&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9014400&poi=&campaignid=1689407483&mkgroupid=74365778108&rlsatarget=aud-622524040958:pla-596465734708&abcId=1140476&merchantid=8442154&gclid=CjwKCAjw-7LrBRB6EiwAhh1yX_prriUHDkcEbnY4HrAfn_LXQcs0r8Vmef0DCISQ74cYHUrEwvnQSRoCgi8QAvD_BwE https://www.gibson.com/Gear/Tuning/PMMH-050
  13. Don’t attach pictures. Copy their url link and paste it in your comments.
  14. I really like the look of the back walnut with the blonde center. Looks like a custom. Here's some monkeypod with a similar pattern on a ukulele And not as noticeable, some koa
  15. I don’t know but most of the Yamaha’s I’ve seen have nice spruce tops. That’s what they’re known for. From the shape of the headstock I would guess it’s a very low quality Chinese knockoff of a Martin. Washburn makes a D100 There is a brand called Rotus that makes a D100. This could be an older one of them. A better pic of the headstock may help. This may be one of those guitars branded under a dozen different names.
  16. Agree with Jim. It'd be a good one to put back to electric . I like it. Here's your photos uploaded. Right click your photo and copy the direct link and paste it in your post.
  17. you should post this in the Acoustic Forum
  18. Here's my '42 LG1 X-braced
  19. Thanks! Good to know. That's my birth year. May come in handy if I get an itch to have one. Did they do it for tone such as the earlier Gibsons with the extra tone bar or was it for structural reasons?
  20. I thought the double X was a ‘70’s thing?
  21. It’s pretty brittle. I’ve already accidentally pushed my finger through it. Bought it for the hardware. I’ll throw some non vintage hardware on it to finish out it’s life. Don’t know if I’ll sell it.
