  1. Like my old Drummer used to say, “A Gig is a paid Rehearsal”. Eagles have been doing that for 50 years. That said, when Glenn was alive he expected nothing less than absolute perfection.. They practiced. They had what they called, the circle of fear.. They rehearsed Vocals, A Cappella… When my Bands have a rehearsal everyone is expected to know their parts.. Come ready. And we do. Rehearsals are like Gigs. Our Gigs go off well.
  2. The Guitar was free. $500.00 for Fralin P90’s with Nickel Dogear Covers & Mojotone Pre-Wired Electronics, 500k Pots, Switchcraft Jack & 3 way Switch & Included my Luthier to put it all together.. It is the equivalent of any Terada Elite or Elitist or USA Casino as far as Sound goes.. Check the Prices on any of those.. Even if you paid $400-$500 for a new or used MIC Casino it would be worth it because it turns a not so great sounding Guitar into a really great sounding Guitar! There is no Casino in the $900-$1000 range that I know of that would compare..
  3. Pelham Blue is not new or exclusive.. That color has been around.. Still Cool though!
  4. No. I just made a statement.. Why are you so touchy? I was also curious how much $$$ he got? I thought I read it but I forgot.. Although, IMO, of all the Guitar Slingers they could’ve signed that are certainly significantly more famous with far more legendary Hits with far more legendary Bands why they chose him is way beyond my comprehension.. Just an observation & my personal opinion..
  5. Didn’t Gibson initially sign Slash to a Recording Contract for a large sum of money?
  6. They are producing Videos.. Short Movies.. That is also an Artform. I have nothing against them. It’s a lot of work.. And can cost a lot. Some work with modest gear, some work with high end gear. Most make good Short Movies.. Like movies they use all the Tricks of the Trade to make them as good as they can.. Some are ok & some are great.. In a way it’s like a Recording Studio & a Movie Set.. A live performance of a Song in a Concert usually doesn’t sound like a Studio Produced Record.. Unless of course they essentially bring the Studio with them & many do these days.. But, those are also polished Studio like Productions.. As for the raw truth of how Guitars sound you really need to go to a Store & play them.. Without the Production equipment.. I will say they do offer lots of information as to how they’re built. What they’re made of. Where they’re built etc…
  7. My brother had an Ovation that had sunk to the bottom of a swimming pool water logged in the case for some time. Angry Ex Wife story. The Neck was so warped & bowed it was crazy.. We took it to a Guitar repair guy who was also a Lead Guitarist.. He said the Guitar wasn’t worth repairing as it would cost as much as it was worth or more.. This Guy took that Guitar, tuned it up & layer down a lead Guitar solo on a song we were recording in one take & it was perfect! That day I learned there are guys who can make junk Guitars sound phenomenal… It has nothing to do with what Guitar or what Price point it is… It’s the Guy playing it..
  8. I don’t think anyone is arguing that Gibson doesn’t make Premium Luxury Guitars.. They do.. To nit pick the difference between Premium & Luxury is subjective.. IMO both mean the same thing… Gibsons entry point for a gloss J-45 is $3000.00… Not cheap.. Many would consider it Premium Luxury.. A comparable Epiphone is about $500.00.. Working man’s price.. I don’t think considering inflation makes any difference when you’re pulling your hard earned Cash out of your pocket..
  9. Not the point at all IMO.. You can make great music on an inexpensive Epiphone. You don’t need a Gibson to make great music.. You can spend $400-$500 on a budget Epi Dot & sound great.. You don’t need a $4000-$10,000 Gibson SS-335.. IMO opinion spending $4000-$10,000 for a Guitar makes it a non essential Luxury item… Gibson, Gretsch, Guild & many other Companies prices are through the roof!!! I don’t know any acne faced baggers from Piggly Wiggly who has a $4000-$10000 Gibson… Most kids I know with $4000-$10000 Guitars had a little help from Mom & Dad….. Or Mom & Dad paid for it altogether..
  10. Gibson = Yes, it’s a Luxury Brand.. Epiphone = No, it’s not a Luxury Brand..
  11. Why don’t you want to share yours first! If you do others might play along…
  12. Those are the hardest for me…. My condolences to you..
  13. When I called Lindy answered the Phone.. His other Guys were on Calls so he picked up.. I got ask a lot of questions.. He was extremely helpful in making sure we got everything right the first time.. And we did. My Luthier said the P-90’s fit exactly.. The holes for Volume & Tone needed to routed a bit but otherwise a straightforward install. Man these Pickups sound goooood!!!And the 500k Pots do make a noticeable difference in Volume & Tone settings… My impression is he’s a great Guy!
  14. Those are great too! I have a friend who had one. I used my 2488 & we’d email each othe WAV File Tracks back & forth & build Songs.. I’ve moved on to Pro Tools & Logic but both of those made good Recordings…. They just lacked more Production Technologies…
  15. Both Offenses struggled against the 2 teams great defense.. Game was long but good.. Half Time show was a non event…..
  16. I received the Fralin P-90’s with Nickel Dogear Covers & the Pre-Wired Mojo Tone Wiring harness with 500k Pots, Switchcraft 3 way Switch & Jack... The Pickups were pretty much a drop in fit. The Volume & Tone holes had to be routed a bit larger. Otherwise it was a pretty straightforward job. My Luthier did an impeccable job.. First of all there is no comparison to how improved it sounds compared to the stock MIC Casino.. My first thought was, it sounds as good as my USA Casino… And my USA Casino sounds fantastic.. So, I did a comparison between my USA Casino & the modded MIC Casino.. I played for a good hour & a half.. Trying different Pickup switching & Tone levels.. Chords, Riffs, Rock, Blues & even my humble version of Smooth Jazz.. I played it through my 65 PRRI & it sounded great. Then I played it through my upgraded Vox AC10 & it sounded great.. Which one sounds the best? They both do.. I think the Fralin’s have a more vintage creamier sparkle to them. I’m actually blown away how good it sounds.. The Terada Casino’s sound very much like my USA Casino.. I think they have pretty identical Specs.. The biggest difference is mine is completely built in the USA.. And I was able to get it in Royal Tan with Nickel Dogear Covers.. How much did I spend? The MIC Casino was free as it was a gift from my Kids.. The Pickups with Nickel Dogear Covers $260.00. The Wiring harness about $160.00. Luthier $180.00.. Total $500.00.. The Guitar sounds like a $Million Bucks though! I mean it really f’n does!
  17. Here’s a random video of one guys basic Video making process.. I’m sure Phil’s is something like this.. Maybe better.. Point being they are Produced & aren’t real live representations.. Who knows what all has been done?
  18. I like his Threads.. The problem I have with ones like this are.. Most Guitars sound good at low volumes through just about any Amp. Tube or Digital. He’s recording into Pro Tools or Logic & it’s a polished Mix. They all sound different live. He’s not comparing to anything.. Just commenting on one particular Guitar.. There are lots of good Guitars.. I’m not arguing that.. I’m just stating my opinion based on all the Guitars I’ve played & have owned.. IMO Vintage 1959 PAF Humbuckers in the 1959 ES335, ES345 or Les Pauls are the Top of the Top….
  19. Didn’t a guy named Henry try to make Gibson a Luxury Lifestyle something or other? How’d that work out?
  20. I’m not seeing any film on T-Type Calibrated Thread #4?
  21. Thro-Bak bought Gibsons PAF Winders from the old Kalamazoo factory.. Still uses them today.. I believe they use the same wire & magnets. Many consider their HB’s as close to the real PAF’s as you can get.. I agree that PAF’s changed over the years.. IMO & experience the PAF’s from 1959 were magic..
  22. I agree there are no 2 Guitars that are exactly alike.. I’ve heard that comment about the unevenness.. I have played many 50’s Gibsons with PAF’s.. Owned one.. In my experience they all sounded like their legend.. Although, some were a little better.. Foolishly, my younger more naive self thought the newer Gibsons had to be better & I traded my old 59 in.. I was wrong. I’ve regretted trading mine in ever since. I’ve been chasing that sound ever since.. Buying one new Gibson after another.. All promising they have unlocked the magic secret but all fell short.. None have delivered.. Some are quite good.. But, in my experience none compare.. No. I don’t believe YouTube’s tell the truth.. Every video is produced with different Recording Gear & are Mixed by Guys with varying degrees of skill & equipment.. There is no way to sample my old Guitar as I have no idea where it is today.. If I could find it I’d trade all my Guitars, except one, to get it back.. I’m happy that you love you’re Guitar.
  23. I own several modern Gibsons with different modern versions of Humbuckers.. I’ve played just about everything from 1959 PAF’s to just about every HB from then to now.. I have never heard a Humbucker that sounds as good as the PAF’s in my old 1959 ES-345 Stereo.. There was nothing old man about them! They did it all! So far, IMO, none compare.. Some come close but still, no Cigar..
  24. Bummer! I think we’ve all done it.. I know I have..
