  1. pair of Sunglasses: and look fwd to summer ? pair of boots: to walk in the snow ? Cherry had lunch with her girlfriends, and she brought me home a takeaway meal in 4 boxes. Steak Pie / Potatoes / Peas / Gravy. Went down nice with a glass of Rioja.
  2. Great idea. At home on the sofa it could fold flat at last. Line 6 supply a right angle jack attachment with the Relay G10t wireless system.
  3. No I don't think its common. Is the pickup properly secured down? Is it a covered pickup? Maybe turn the volume down?
  4. Well I certainly hope so. Otherwise it's going to start to feel personal.
  5. I don't understand what it is you are asking. Do you want to remove the tape?
  6. Been away from tubes too long to be of any real use here, but if I were looking now, I'd begin with Cornell. Probably the Romany. Cornell also do a 'Traveller 5' which is very small (10" Celestion). No idea what that's like, but seems well speced. 336 is likely to be Custom Shop right now right?
  7. There was a documentary on a Nordic swimmer who was swimming daily in icy waters. His physiology had changed to accommodate this. No idea how long this takes, but perseverance is the key. With lockdown this year, Cherry was unable to pool swim at her gym. This was making her crazy, as she swims a lot. So she started sea swimming at various places locally. This meant getting a wet suit and joining at least one local group of sea swimmers. I joined her a few times at Hill Head. But winter swimming? especially in those northern waters? Well I reckon we'll leave that to the mermaids!
  8. The luthier I use, Simon said when he built his 1st guitar, he kept making mental notes about how he would do it 'next time'. Just to make things a little easier.
  9. Just pulled this from another forum: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/23/business/guitar-center-is-preparing-for-a-possible-bankruptcy-filing.html According to a report in the New York Times, the US Guitar Center retail chain is once again facing bankruptcy, with the possibility that it will file for protection as early as next month. The company, which is reported to have missed a $45 million interest payment in October, leaving it with a 30 day 'grace period that could end in default...' is no stranger to financial difficulties. In January 2018 USA Today claimed it had about 18 months to refinance more than $900 million in debt scheduled to mature in 2019. Earlier this year, having missed an interest payment, GC agreed a 'distressed debt exchange' resulting in rating agency Moody's downgrading it yet again, saying: 'The CFR, PDR and unsecured notes downgrades reflect the increased probability of a debt restructuring due to the capital markets disruption caused by the coronavirus outbreak, as well as expected significant earnings declines in 2020 due to temporary store closures and declines in discretionary consumer spending. In Moody's view these factors, together with the company's high leverage and approaching 2021 secured notes maturity, raise the company's probability of default'.While the immediate concern will be the fate of Guitar Center's nearly 300 stores and its employees, industry observers have called attention to the potentially devastating effect a bankruptcy could have on the MI industry as a whole if manufacturers, already suffering due to the effects of the global pandemic, suffered significant losses. Overall, Guitar Center is reported to be carrying a total debt of $1.3 billion. While it might be tempting to attribute its problems to the difficulties faced by all 'bricks and mortar' stores in recent years - and the intensification of those problems during lockdown - the company's precarious position cannot have been helped by the huge debts incurred from a highly leveraged buyout by Bain Capital in 2007, which left it with a reported $1.6 billion debt. Although the eventual takeover of the lead role in the company's ownership by Ares Management in 2014 reduced its debt by a reported £500 million and its interest payment by a claimed $70 million a year (see pitchbook.com) industry insiders say that however well a musical instrument retail chain performs, servicing, let alone repaying, a debt of that magnitude looks like a Herculean task.
  10. ...for now. Wandered through FB marketplace and found a 2019 Gibson LP DC special for not a lot of money. Not far off half price really. Fellow said he had only played it for a couple of hours & had come to terms that he was really a Strat guy. Plus, he had bought a hard case for it (looked like a proper one). Checked him out. He had posted a pic on his page of the guitar in its new case & seeming pleased about it. Seems like an ok fellow who gets through gear quickly. I was tempted. I could even have put the cash together in a matter of minutes & he only lives 15 minutes away. Then I got sensible. Crisis passed. I really dont need a new guitar fix. Obviously it sold quickly, and its disappeared now. Status: GAS under control : Crisis averted
  11. So, you putting that Firebird out to stud now Steve ?
  12. yep. thats proper metal alright. 🙃
  13. Move on Up - (Curtis Mayfield / Paul Weller) its on the set list & I get a solo in it Lets have a Ball (Ry Cooder) jamin' along with Ry 🙂
  14. This morning: Found this photo I took in December 2012. It was still in RAW (never processed). The dark version is original, and the lighter one post-exposed. I'm undecided about which I prefer Its Portsmouth from the top of Portsdown Hill
  15. Great idea! Oddly enough I bought a levelling beam and some sticky-back abrasive paper from Crimson. Now I don't need to buy any more. 🙂 Thanks for the share Rabs.
  16. Well, then they'd have to re-tool everything for metric sizing. Re-size the poker chip to include translations into French, Czech, Polish, Lithuanian, Greek etc etc. and completely cover the finish with safety regulations stickers. Nightmare. Good isn't it! When I first got my LP, I kept flipping the switch by accident. I considered removing the tip at one point.
  17. No. You couldn't do that by mistake. Its just a change. If anything it would be cheaper & easier to route and wire this way.
