  1. Whoops! Sorry about that. I did try hard to read the OP but the black made it difficult. BTW, I also have a 2015 LP. Still loving it.
  2. I just looked at the D & A site. They appear to be quality stands, though i didnt see nitro referenced anywhere. It would be worth contacting D & A just to see how they react to the damage you have. Meanwhile its probably worth not using the Gibsons with that stand until you figure out how to proceed. Thanks for the heads up about this. I use Hercules wall brackets but wont leave nitro guitars on them for extended periods. Good luck
  3. I found my sound after 40 years of making do with old 60s/70's/80s gear. My perfect sound in my signal processor. I found it after spending hours experimenting with all likely options. The tone was tailored to the neck pickup of my guitar (I only use neck pickups when I gig). I fine tune the EQ to suit any new guitar I acquire and save the settings. I have even performed the whole exercise again by starting from scratch and assembled the same tone as originally. There was only minimal variation. So there is no fluke involved. The only sound variable I have to cope with these days is room acoustics. My ideal tone is not ethereal. It doesn't come and go. Its real, it reliable and I now don't mess with it.
  4. (Canadian Maple taffy. mmm.....) Kate & Anna McGarrigle Leonard Cohen The Band John Kay Powder Blues band Joni Mitchell Oscar Peterson
  5. I had his 'Folk, Blues & Beyond' (1965) album when I was learning to fingerpick. 'Cocaine' & 'Moanin' were the two that became part of my early repertoire.
  6. wow, I still have mine but they're stashed. Haven't played em in 40 years! vinyl.... not amps
  7. I enjoyed one of the VH songs on here. Never imagined that was gonna happen 👍
  8. Pete, its hard to advise. Some people will adapt to an odd feeling neck and others wont. Personally, as long as it doesn't impede any technique, I can get used to pretty much anything, and have done. My favourite guitar has a massive neck. Its not my favourite neck for certain, but it doesn't hold me back. Does the chunky neck stop you being able to do anything? Are you a player who likes to wrap your hand around the neck? Can you hold down the bass E with your thumb? Can you fingerpick it? Or comfort wise; does it make your hand ache after 30 minutes play? I would certainly not reshape the neck. Sometimes this goes wrong. It might even compromise the neck stability if you are too aggressive with removing material. Then afterwards you have to consider refinishing the neck. Filling, staining/painting and nitro. Bottom line. If you cant come to terms with the neck, return it and find something else.
  9. I would. I tried out a beautiful LP Standard I wanted to buy 5 years ago. I went through every combination of guitar & amp controls/EQ and could not get a usable sound out of it. This was using a decent Orange rig. I gave up and moved into the next booth and tried all over again with the Marshall. Same outcome. This took 45 or 50 minutes. Before leaving, I picked up a different LP and tried that out. It sounded great immediately. I asked about what pickups were installed in each. The Standard had Burstbuckers and the other one had 59 Classics. The specs may be close, but the proof is in the sound.
  10. Some of us old enough to recall Hendrix when he was alive. He was one of many we listened to enthralled. But it was only after he passed that he became canonised & looked upon as 'more special' than contemporaries. I listened to him avidly at the time and for a few years after. But busting & burning his guitar, or flossing his teeth with it? Never appreciated any of that. Showmanship leaves me cold. Of all of the 60s music I loved. I haven't listened to any of it for decades. I cant listen to the same recordings for 60 years. Only stuff I listen to from then is stuff I missed at the time, such as some back catalogue of Paul Butterfields Blues Band (Mike Bloomfield), or the odd re-surface of Peter Green's live Mac or a Cold Blood concert etc. Now I can include some George Benson in there as well, so thanks Jaxon50 👍. Very much appreciated.
  11. Hi Matze, From what I gather, there are long and short versions. I suspect your one should be long. These are the measurements for a long one. Maybe you can check this against yours?
  12. I've been to USA and Canada. Love to visit again. Never did any gardening in either though.
  13. You are looking at a specific guitar. It sounds as if you have some information. What else are you looking for?
  14. Thanks for the help/advice/info. Never mind about the tune. I think I get the picture with the West Side Story example. In which case its quite different from the point I was making anyway, which was about improvisation.
  15. Apparently Lee Anderton (the Captain) is now changing his name to El Anderton. The whole shop applauded and no one took the pizz.
  16. Wiki 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard with two PAF humbucking pickups. This guitar (which was stolen in 1966; its whereabouts remain unknown) is also called the "Blues Breaker" or "Beano" Les Paul and a replica of which was reissued by Gibson in 2012.
