Reason I kept it is 'cause it's not 'mellow'! It has more of a maple-like bright response and is fairly loud.
Volksball
Nice choice man. I own the 2014 version of the Cherryburst HB bird with the quilt maple sides and back and it's just pretty in every way. While yours may sound a bit different given the mahogany, it will bring you hours of joy. Enjoy!
jeff4532
You’d be good with a Martin d-28, 41,42,45. They are as versatile as the aj and hummingbird. Gibsons are a pain in the behind to upkeep, the bracing and wood collapses and cracks very easy and cutting a thru and thru saddle is a monumental pain in the *** whether you are doing the work or searching for someone to do it. Don’t count on Gibson to help you either, that road is a dead end. Finding someone that works on acoustics is few and far between and ask anyone who’s done any JUST acoustic tech work and they will tell you don’t go near a Gibson with a ten foot pole, unless you’ve got an endless amount of money on it. Martins are built to be maintained simply by their owner without any surprises 1

Martins are built to be maintained simply by their owner without any surprises Welcome to the Gibson acoustic forum, a place where people discuss some of the world's best acoustic guitars. We hope you enjoy your time here, as well as the lively discussions. Many of us here own both Gibsons and Martins, as well as other guitar brands. Sorry you seem to have had such a poor experience with people who work on acoustic guitars. If you let us know where you live, we may be able to point you to a shop, repair person, or luthier with the appropriate skill set and level of experience.
