guitarnutt
So how much scratch do I need to come up with to buy a new Dove natural at a five star dealer in this current inflationary environment?

For what it's worth, here in Canada they are going for Can. $6299 which is about $4752.89 US.
Sgt. Pepper
What you negotiate is between you and the store is your business, but here its straight from the horses mouth. https://www.gibson.com/en-US/Acoustic-Guitar/ACCN8H793/Antique-Natural Edited July 3, 2023 by Sgt. fortyearspickn
The answer is only a phone call away. Call and make sure you are clear that is the ONLY guitar you are interested in - so they know you are a serious shopper. Tell them you saw on line they had one in stock Iassumingi you did) so they know you are doing a lot of research work. After they give you a price - ask if they can throw in a new Franklin glove leather strap and couple of pkgs of phosphor bronze strings. They'll say 'no'. Act like you're ready to hang up, ask if their advertised price has any wiggle room. Usually it does and they'd rather haggle on that than trying to figure out how to get you the right strap and strings. G'Luck.

Twang Gang
Lars, you are dreaming if you think you can get a retailer to knock 20% of the MSRP. Those days are long gone.

Agreed and once the guitar leaves the factory on the truck its already bought and paid for by SW, MF, GC, or what ever retailer is selling it. So Gibson is now out of the loop and the check is cashed.
Dave F
I still occasionally buy new Gibson guitars and it is more difficult to get big discounts. The best route I found is the M2M program. You may have to wait a while, but the store has more freedom setting the price. Just make a slight change that would not occur much price difference. I order all my customs from Ben Scott at Bailey brothers.

Those days are long gone. I’m not dreaming my friend.. Depends on your skill & sometimes a little luck.. I’ve purchased a new Gretsch White Falcon & a new Guild D-40E in the past few months.. Both at 20% discounts.. I bought one of them with a 20% off Coupon I got in June from Musiciansfriend… Fender texted me a 20% off Coupon today! Actually, if you think you can’t……. You can’t…. Twang Gang
Well it's one thing to get a 20% discount with a coupon the retailer gives you - there is no haggling there. I'm talking about walking into a store wanting to buy a $4000 guitar and offering $3200 for it - not going to happen.

Have a nice day, cause they got it for nowhere near 4k. Edited July 15, 2023 by Sgt. Pepper

In the last 2 years I’ve bought a USA Epi Casino, a Gretsch White Falcon & most recently a new USA Guild D-40E.. All at 20% Discounts… If I can’t, I generally won’t buy as I really don’t need another Guitar.. If one guy doesn’t want to do a 20% off deal I usually find someone who will..
