Murph
Go to a bookstore, (really dem00n, you can do this) and order a book called "The Tube Amp Book" by Aspen Pittman. You can buy it online, but you really need to go to a bookstore. It'll get you started. Marshall and Fender also have books about the history of their (respected) amps. Randall Smith has done a little writing as well. (Mesa) Enjoy, pal. It's addictive though........ Murph.

Corrosion of conformity
I know Munky from the NU-METAL band Korn uses Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifiers, maybe you want to research some of those. I'm pretty sure Jim Root from the NU-METAL band Slipknot uses a Vox model...although I'm not sure of the exact model.

djroge1
The Tube Amp book by aspen pittman is a good book if you want a great history lesson with plenty of pics. If you want a book that explains how a tube amp works in a fairly simple to read format then buy "The Guitar Amp Handbook" by Dave hunter. If you want a book that is more in-depth of how tube amps work, specifically Fenders (really technical, but still readable) then there is a book by Dave Funk I just cannot remember the name right at the moment. One last thing - go to Gab Kits as he has a section on his web page with a list of various amp books and buying them. The Aspen Pittman book is $33 + shipping

RichCI
dem00n, what sort of info are you looking for about tube amps? If you're thinking about getting into building or modifying them, you do well to get some of the books the other guys suggested. Here are some links I like to help you get started: http://www.ax84.com/ http://aga.rru.com/ http://www.18watt.com/ http://www.aikenamps.com/TechInfo_2.htm http://schematicheaven.com/ http://blueguitar.org/ http://www.torresengineering.com/ http://www.guitaramplifierblueprinting.com/ Probably the best advice you'll get is this disclaimer on the AGA site (you'll find similar ones on other sites as well): Tube amplifiers contain potentially lethal, high voltages even after they are unplugged, that may cause personal injury or death. Do not attempt to repair, modify, or work on any amplifier unless you are absolutely certain you know what you are doing.
gateway
Yeah - you need to get some History before you do anything else. Get a copy of this book: Seventeen Watts?: The First Twenty Years of British Rock Guitar, the Musicians and their Stories http://www.amazon.com/Seventeen-Watts-British-Musicians-Stories/dp/1860741827/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1243741072&sr=8-
TheLiveSoundGuy
If you would even bother to check out the Reference Bookshelf thread in the Lessons, Playing Tips and Tunings section of this forum, (Yes there are areas in the Gibson Forum other than the lounge) you would find THIS link. Guess what... They're all FREE. In limited preview of course, but still FREE. "Once you learn something new give a little back...
