EVOL!
bloomfeild I like Bloomfield's work with Paul Butterfield so much more. The s/t and East West are two of my all time favorite records. Love the scratchy bite of his Tele. Electric Flag was too hippy-dippy funk for my tastes.

grampa
I'm not going to try to figure out the "best" blues guitarist but no way can I pass up any Hendrix. I don't think anyone ever came as close to being one with the guitar than Jimi. To this day, my hair stands up when I listen to him.

milod
Well... when it comes to great creative musicians who used and died with drugs, I dunno. My concern is for those who think they need to emulate those guys, and to do so by using drugs. I think the "used and died" part is likely, the creativity far, far less so. Creativity in music or other arts is a strange creature; I'm not sure at all whence it comes but I am certain that it is part of the artist and that it can't be either formed or destroyed by drugs. Some of those considered "great blues guitarists" I don't think of personally as "blues guitarists." But whatever. I'm just a grouchy old man. m
