duane v
It's a treble enhancement effect..... well that's my interpretation of it But when I record, the presence knob get turned almost completely down..... Thermionik
. . On my 6G6-A it changed the negative feedback slightly - it gave more or less "tightness" to the sound and also a slight increase in the highest harmonics - a kind of sheen or shimmer. Your mileage may vary. . .
daveinspain
Actually the presence knob adds mid/high EQ which makes that instrument stand out in the audio imagery....
Silenced Fred
Actually the presence knob adds mid/high EQ which makes that instrument stand out in the audio imagery.... I think that is the best def, although Murph gets a second best Thanks, I was/am still a little confused but it helps
Riverside
I've read that it was intended to bring the "Mic" input to the front in the days when the amplifier was used with multiple instruments as well as vocal microphones. On some models, it is implemented as a control of the negative feedback loop. http://billmaudio.com/wp/?page_id=
RichCI
In my Mesa amp, it's a treble control that is after right before the power section of the amp; the treble/mid/bass controls are before the preamp gain, the presence control is after gain. It's also a very cool, often overlooked Led Zeppelin album.
