Silenced Fred
On my Seagull acoustic, I am having some problems. The low e and the a string, when fretted at the 7th fret or above, give off hardly any sound other than fret buzz. What can I do to fix this? New nut and bridge? Riffster
Seems you may have a dead fret.
AXE®
Could be one of several problems. Twisted Neck. Truss Rod Adj. Un level Frets.

Silenced Fred
I am confused... anything above the 7th fret or so is deadened. What is a dead fret? And if there is a twisted neck or any of the other things AXE® mentioned, what can I do about it? There is no Truss Rod on this model...

Silenced Fred
Which Model? I've had a couple of Seagulls. Original S6' date=' bought it for 200 used at guitar center last year, haven't had problems with it until just now
Murph
No truss rod? Sell it. Buy a J45.
Silenced Fred
No truss rod? Sell it. Buy a J45. Can I buy a J45 for 200 dollars? I know, I know, I don't have a ton of money, but I was very happy with it, sounds great, still does, except for the two low strings. I plan on buying a Taylor cutaway
AXE®
First, look down the neck (both sides) carefully look for a twist. Second, find a straight edge no longer than 2 1/2" long and lay it across the frets between the strings and slowly slide it up the neck from the first fret. This will identify inconsistencies in the level of frets.

Riffster
Dead fret or un level fret are the same thing in this case. That spot on the fret maybe dead because it is unleveled or worn.
AXE®
Make sure you use the straight edge between all the strings. Five runs on the board.
Silenced Fred
Just checked it out, neck doesn't seem warped. Frets seem level. I have no idea what the problem is. I will be bringing it into my guitar teacher soon, because there are no luthiers around me, and I sure as hell don't trust those schmucks at guitar center to touch it
Thundergod
Might sound stupid but have you changed strings recently?

AXE®
03 Firebird. Not too slim. 50s' rounded.
flyingarmadillo
There is no Truss Rod on this model... Are you sure about this? The Seagull website says it does. Look inside the soundhole - it might take a mirror and a flashlite.

I will just wait to take it to my teacher I guess, but how would I even access this truss rod?

Silenced Fred
Might sound stupid but have you changed strings recently? It was giving me crazy buzz, then I changed the strings, but nothing changed sound wise. If that answers your questions.
