fenrirlupus
I'm a noob. no need to dodge that. i have been playing a while on a washburn oe30 and wanted to get an epiphone for under $1000. any suggestions?
pohatu771
An Epiphone under $1000... That narrows it down to most of their catalog. Standard answers will be: G-400 Les Paul Custom Casino Dot Sheraton Korina Flying V Explorer If you're playing a Wasburn OE-30, the Dot or Sheraton will be closest to it. Welcome to the Epiphone Electric Forum...as far as under $1,000.00 goes...take your pick. Except for the Elitist models, most any Epiphone Electric guitar goes for under $1,000.00. Many in the $500-600.00 range and they are well made and sounding guitars. Check out the home page for the various model, then logon to Musicians Friend or any other guitar outlet site to checkout the prices on the various styles. Have fun and hope you find one that pleases you.
charlie brown
Could he find an elitist for that? A decent "used but not abused" one...sure! Check with E.M. Shorts guitars, in Wichita (KS)... their prices are generally lower, than the major chain retailers. Plus, they set it up, put on your choice of strings, and have a 30 day trial period. NO, I don't work for them, but I have purchased a lot of gear from them, in the past. CB
TWANG
First figure out what songs you want to play.. what are the most similar instruments used by the players whose material and sounds you like. A metal guy will not choose the same as a country guy or a rock guy or a jazz guy, etc. then look at what guitars they are using.. and compare them feature by feature to epis offerings. You'll be hard pressed to not find an epi that will fill the bill but none of them are truly universal. I don't know that model of guitar so I can't tell what you're not happy with or where you want to go with your guitar playing. TWANG

fenrirlupus
too bad the g1275 custom sg is $999 or i'd get that (double neck)
daneman
I gave about $149 for my Oscar 4 years ago,I believe the dot costs a bit more than that. MF has the dot studio listed at $269 and the dot archtop listed for $399 in the latest catolog. The Black Beauty (3 pickup model?) Imho, the 3rd pickup is a bit of a pain,it gets in the way of your picking . I don't have a Black Beauty, but I do have the 3 pickup Epiphone G-400 custom. You might be happier with the 2 pickup LP Custom, especially since the 3rd pickup on the BB,doesn't really add very much sonically, tho it does look really cool. If you can afford it, one of the LP Elites is highly reccomended by those forum members lucky enough to own them!! Better wood ,pickups, finish ,better everything!! I have an older LP standard(non elite)which I also enjoy a lot!!Though I have modded the heck outta that one!!(better pickups, pots switch tuners ect) Do your research carefully, ask questions after doing more research, you'll be smarter in the long run!!And probably a lot happier guitarist as well!! daneman
If I ever get an economic stimulus check,I've been thinking about this: http://www.rondomusic.com/product1490.html Have heard some nice things about these.
oldpriest
I have an OE30 and I like the pickups on it. I saw those agiles at Rondo too.....looks tempting and from you tube there are some clips I think...they look nice.....anyway to answer the question...if you want a Les Paul or SG style guitar you might consider the lower priced Gibsons as well. Check Musicians Friend or where ever to see prices and features and compare those to the Epi's...you should be able to get something you really like.
