Guest
iconoclast-- i have worked full time since i was 16. i was not one of those people that has ever had anything handed to them. i also had a wonderful time all of my life being raised by a single mother moving from shitty rental to shitty rental with no car for a number of years. im glad my father beat the living sh0t of me when i was young with random objects. the best part ofbout my "four year excuse to not have a job" was working a full time job' date=' a part time job, and had to bury several relitives and go through the BS of my fathers death and still manage to have above a 3.0. go fk yourself. i appreciate your judgements on me as a human being and i am glad you feel the need to dive into my lifes history like some prick that has any right to my life.i hope i have given enough in this paragraph to insult me a little more.. i appreciate, and find humor in your blatant attemps at belittling me. rarely do you say anything without trying to one-up someone on here. i respect you but i do find you to be a tad bitter agaist everyone other than yourself. and brad--- picking out someones spelling errors when they are typing on the fuking internet is a little rediculous. i also think it is unfathomably ubsurd that you feel the need to question the merits of my acheivements. i am not full of myself, only stating fact. if you have any doubts of my accomplishments, you are more than welcome to my home to see them. any award or recognition i have ever recieved in education, workplace or is in my music room. i would still call what you are doing to be an aggravated assult because you are intending to point me out as an ego tripper, a liar and what-not. i appoligize four not hittttttting spel chek. i will be a better person next time. how dare universities publish my writings 8 years ago in their crappy text books that just end up being set aflame by the frat boys. i have a lot more to worry about than typing on that damn internet people. grow the helll up.i have severe anxiety and ADD so i dont really pay attention unless its something important. deal with your 6 month old child getting beaten by a baby sitter and having an 85 percent chance of her being permantly brain damaged. deal with worrying about why she wakes up in the middle of the night almost everynight crying since it happened(even though she is four years old now). i could give a crap less if my typing makes me less to you friggin people... just politely say--- dude, josh... fix your spelling because we cant really read that man... lerxst--- i agree with what you are saying. i shouldnt have said they suck.. i cant tolerate them ingeneral as a band, but as musicians, they are amazing. i give your words merit. somedays i really wonder about people like iconoclasts desire to be mr amazing... that whole "....and al's your uncle" sh1t says it all. someone that thrives on belittling others. [/quote'] If you thought that my response and post was a direct, personal attack on you, you've obviously never caught my act. Just a suggestion with no malice intended...get your meds adjusted. tvyellow
Having been forced to listen to Rush for their ENTIRE career because of Canadian content rules for radio up here, I too am able to voice my educated opinion on the matter...Rush Sucks...and for that matter, so do The Tragically Hip. A good portion of the reason why Rush became "popular" was because Canadian stations HAD to play somebody Canadian so may times an hour. This usually translates into listeners hearing the same 4 or 5 bands over and over again. As for the Joan Jett guitar? Why not a Joan Jett guitar? If it get someone interested in playing -fantastic. evol04gt
okay okay truce to all.. the jerry springer thing was good... i have never wanted pity, but when someone brings up anything about judging me, i get a little---well..riled up and off kilter. im glad you feel the need to insult someone on a forum several times that you just joined. class. the best part about my rush rant is that "tom sawyer" was just playing on family guy. i will definately digress in my rants- the 3 chord turnaround is some joke i dont even get so i will shut up and educate iconoclast that i definately believe i did end up paying the university to make me less intelligent in all honesty. i believe i lost much of my self education while attempting to get a formal one. maybe thats the route you were going. its 12.. medication wears off around 10pm....which explaines a lot. the joan jett guitar rules. there is no rush guitar. lol. JRicoC
A local, smug reviewer once wrote of Ms. Jett: "she has two kinds of songs; those she wrote herself and those that were hits". I like Joan, but I have to admit that was a pretty good line.

Dave
Can't believe the heated discussion over a signature guitar! I remember Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and enjoyed their contribution to the music I was playing at the time. They made a deep dent in the rock era that will be remembered. As far as the Joan Jett sig guitar goes, it will either be a success or it will not, but it's out there for those who want to own it. There are lots of guitarists who helped influence the music we play today. Neil Young is one, although I try not to play any soloing style Neil played! His contribution to CSNY is better remembered in the vocals he did, not his lead playing, but I'd understand if a certain company created a NY Strat. Joan Jett was an early female rocker who took the industry by storm. She is to rock as is Bonnie Rait is to blues. I salute any female who loves the music so much that they choose to endure the rigors of traveling and performing. It's not a comfortable ride to stardom. SlagJones
OOOHHH, nothing chaps my *** more than chick melody makers and Geddy frickin Lee! I think I am going to kick my dog, slap the lady next door, and pee in the fridge. Hehe, Joan is cool, Geddy, Alex, and Neil farking rock! Liking or disliking a certain band or music doesn't make anyone better or worse than anyone else. If the sound moves you, that's all that matters! But I do agree that Epiphone's most valuable endorsement (even if it was unpaid) was that the greatest rock band in the history of the universe used Epiphone Casinos and an Epiphone Texan for the last 2/3 of their existence. Banning threads on the Beatles is sort of like the Gibson banning threads having to do with Les Paul, or the Mosrite forum banning threads on the Ventures. Manimal
More likely MF goofed on the description again. Wouldn't be the first time... they probably confused it with the reissue Melody Maker. I've been waiting a couple of weeks for the JJ Melody Maker to show up on online sites where I got a tip that they had been shipped last week from Gibson. They hit MF and GC sites on Monday, available for the 27th. They are listed still on these sites with rosewood board, Dirtyfingers humbucker, and a friggin gig-bag. For $639. This kind of soured me a bit from buying the guitar so I called Gibson Customer Service and asked to confirm the options and I got a verbal and email confirmation. Here it is............ Hello Alex, I just heard back from Gibson USA. They say: " It seems that Musicians Friend and all other sited linked to them have many incorrect specs on the Joan Jett. Let consumers know that our website is correct. " Best regards, Bob Burns Gibson Customer Service 1-800-4GIBSON service@gibson.com Sounds good to me. I'll take it. I'd rather have the BB3 at the bridge and get more gain from the amp. That Dirtyfingers would overdrive my GA-5 on 1 LOL! I think it's cool that it has the ebony board as well. And the HSC is key!!! I'm buying this guitar, definately! As far as what has been debated here from others in the forum about signature guitars, its all quite simple. Yeah the Keifer sig. from Gibson is rediculous, Tom Delounge, Avril Levigne, Pete Wentz, all rediculous. IMO, the Joan Jett makes perfect sense!!!! Isn't she insanely well known? Successfull? Accomplished? What guitar does she have a FULL RACK of???? Yup, she plays dual cut Melody Maker's with a Velvet Hammer humbucker at the bridge. She has about 6 of em' all equipped pretty much the same way. So, with smart marketing, Gibson thinks about bringing the DC Melody Maker back to production and figure it will catch more of a buzz with a signature model. What musician out there over the last 30 years could be more connected to this instrument????!!!!! Dur!!!! Now thats a hypothetical scenario obviously, but jeez, makes sense to me. What do we want, a Satriani DC Melody Maker? a Govan DC Melody Maker??? This guitar is a stripped down rocker, is what it is. I think it's going to be highly playable, loud, and crushingly fun to play!!! I'm not a huge fan of JJ, and yes am a bit embarrassed of buying a "chick sig. guitar", but hey, this thing is going to be a rock n' roll flame-thrower. I personally can totally understand why they endorsed Joan Jett with this guitar. Makes perfect sense. The real complaint with a signature guitar that I have is the BJ Armstrong Les Paul Junior. WTF!!!! There are WAY more players that could be strongly linked to this guitar. Like in no order, Lesley West, Keith Urban, Johnny Thunder, etc. I think that one is kinda rediculous. But, even that one is a pretty cool guitar. Just my blah blahs........
