just a quick question: if it's hollow body with p90's' date=' isn't it just a modification of casino? Or is there anything else, apart from name, that would distinguish it to be Riviera?[/quote']

The comment "should be hollow" in the Epi response didn't exactly fill me with confidence...They don't seem too certain about these guitars.

I would argue that if it is a hollow body then it is a Casino. If it's a semi then it's a variation on a dot or a Riviera.

From what I can gather, the Riviera was dropped in 1969 for basically being a 335 with a frequensator tailpiece. At that time, the Riviera apparently retailed for the same price as a 335. I guess the Sheraton was sufficiently unique to justify its continued existence.

well original Riviera, just as Sheraton had mini humbuckers. And Casino always has p90s. That's way I've raised that question. If it's hollow body (doubtful but, life is full of surprises), and with p90s, Casino is the first model that comes to my mind. Otherwise, just a interesting variation of Riviera, which is I believe original Epiphone model isn't it?

CB' date=' what did you have to do to get the '10% discount'? I didn't get it. [/quote']

Hi Slim...Yeah, I just gave them the code number (I think it was "MF 10/19"), when I ordered it, over

the phone. It didn't work, if you ordered it "on line," apparently. Had to be a phone in order.

The Casino is more of a hollow body than a Sheraton or Riviera (it makes more noise played without an amplifier). So I guess the Casino is hollower.

I'm STUNNED...it's here (Monday 10-21-08)...that's amazing...I wasn't expecting it, for another 3 days or so! Initial

impression is...WOW!! Will post more, later...when I've had some playing time, on it. Made in China (who cares...looks

great, and feels good, too! Poly finish is light (not heavy and "plastic encased" like, at all)...other "fit and finish" seems

very well done, as well. Beautiful color, too. I ordered a case, but they shipped the guitar seperately, for some reason???

The case isn't here, yet. Was double boxed...Epi triangle box, inside a rectangle shipping box, with some foam,

but not nearly as much as "I" would have done, or wanted...if it had been MY choice. Still, it arrived just fine! It's weird

they didn't ship it, in the case, as that would have saved them some (shipping costs) I'd think? But, maybe the cases

come from a different warehouse/source?? Who knows? Anyway...as I said, I will post more, when I've had time to play

it, and really get a "feel" for what it can do. Photos, too....I Promise!

Just plugged it in...everything seems fine...working as it should. Action is good, although (personally) I may lower it just

a "tad!" Neck is beefier than my Casino, but not as beefy as my (Gibson) "Lucille!" So, it's a nice compromise...kind of

a "fat" 60's, neck...for lack of a better description. Gold plating seems well done, and reasonably "heavy" compared to

some I've seen....more like "Gibson" than "Asian," in that respect. But..."Time will tell," as to how really durable, it is...

Anyway...more later...I've got to go play this beauty! So, excuse me, for now...LOL!

I spent $400 yesterday on a tuxedo, a new set of speakers for my iPod, and two TV-on-DVD sets...

I could still buy the guitar, but then I'd be completely broke until January...

Maybe I can convince all of my friends to go in on it for my birthday... in December.
