I am still going to buy another Sherri but with the insurance on the guitar coming thru next week and the go ahead from Sue my wife I went out and bought a brand new 2008 American Standard Stratocaster in candy cola red. Schtang Posted November 7, 2008 Author Share Posted November 7, 2008 Yeah CB is it red - I love red guitars as well has sunburst. I have a red telecaster a red Gibson Les Paul and now this Strat. I only came across playing this strat when I was trying out some new Sherris, the 2008 USA stds are really nice so glabbed it. I am going to look for a good used Sherri around 2000-2006 era ( I like that period best). The guy I bought the sherri off has a lot of epi hollowbodies and offered me a Casino (but i declined) he is keeping an eye out for a sherri though. charlie brown Posted November 7, 2008 Share Posted November 7, 2008 Casino's are GREAT! They are one of Epi's best (as well as most famous) guitars. Tone is to die for, even if a bit more "noise," due to P-90's being single coil. They are considerably lighter, in weight, than the Sheri, as they are true "hollow bodies," with no center block, as the Sheraton has. There is a tendency, to experience more "feedback" at higher volumes, but it's really quite easy to control, given a little common sense. But, I think everyone that owns one, would agree...they are amazing guitars. Necks are thin, but comfortable, and most of the ones (mine especially) play like "butter!" Paul McCartney has said, in several interviews, that if he had to own only ONE guitar, it would be his Casino. And, I can certainly understand that feeling... though I'd hate to give up, any of my guitars. ;>) I think, once you get one (if you do), get used to it's particular tonality and playability, you'd really love it! OK CB what's the best way to win the auction at 'used' market price? (please remember they sell for much more in OZ than the states usually around $750-$800). Thanks guys. I only ever had one thing stolen in my life, a Boss EQ pedal. I set up my gear early in the afternoon for an evening gig. When I turned up in the evening it was gone. It was only a small loss but it does really piss you off. I have spent a lot of money modifying my 2001 Samick built Tobacco burst Sheraton with new electrics and pickups. If someone stole it I'd be devastated. We always try to make sure none of the cars are left unattended when we are loading gear. Hope you find the B£$%&rd who took it. On topic, you nevertheless have my full sympathies Schtang. Losing a loved guitar ain't nice. Good luck in finding your replacement Sheraton, I'm on my second and I love it more than my first... I'm sure you'll find a lovely new one. Edited to add: I found my new one on eBay too, and it's also in natural finish.... it's a good way to source a guitar. If your seller is telling you it's in great condition, and he has positive feedback, then he won't be telling lies. Some of the new members probably don't realize what nice woodgrain and finish it had...judging from those photos, you used to post, now and again. It's hard to tell, in your performance photo, at the head of this thread. Might be nice (if not to painful, for you) to post those, again...so other's will know just exactly what you've lost! One is a 2005 model the other a 2007 model both Korean made. I am going to decide this weekend which one I will buy. The 2005 is on ebay and the 2007 is at a shop a friend of mine works at - If they agree with the price i offered them I will take the 2007 (I will know tomorrow) keep you all posted and hopefully if all works out I will post pics next week. I have decided on the natural finish, I just can't bring myself to buy another Vintage Sunburst because I have yet to come across one that is as nice as mine that got stolen. Several years ago I ran a construction crew that traveled a lot. One morning a had to get between two of my workers. One of them was going to kick the other one's *** because the guy had stolen money out of his wallet while he was taking a shower. The guy whose *** was about to get kicked defended himself by saying "you shouldn't have left your wallet on the table where I could see it. I couldn't resist the temptation". I decided to let the rest of the crew be the 'jury' to determine whether the first guy should be entitled to kick the *** of the 2nd guy. They overwhelmingly voted for the 2nd guy, totally agreeing that the first guy was at fault for leaving his wallet in plain sight. Nevermind 'though shalt not steal'. Well after a gig on Thursday night it was stolen out of my car while lugging gear back and forth to the car. I am now the unfortunate non-own of a Sheraton. Went and had a look at some new VS Sheraton IIs yesterday and just can't find one like it. Mine had a beautiful peek-a-boo flame-top and amazing neck. really pissed-off. I have own 2 VS Sheratons in the past and this one was just excellent. Hey Schtang , sorry to hear about your loss . I know how it feels - had a '63 Strat stolen years ago . I'm very fortunate to own a gorgeous VS Sheri and a custom shop Riviera . If you need to borrow for recording or such , as I'm also in Sydney , you'd be more than welcome . I have quite a few Fenders and Gibsons so lack of guitars not a problem. The sherri was my only semi-hollow that I owned (so I am lossing that tone at the moment). I am looking at 2 Sherries at the moment, if both fall thru I may take you up on the offer of your contacts finding me a used Sherri. Cheers.
