It's pretty disappointing to read that certain advanced members in their 40-50's call people names, and attack someones character, and the absurd racial remarks from another noob member[-x ..... Now I can understend why the Epi mods won't allow a general discussion forum.... I hope there will be bans handed out

Well, Duane...it is unfortunate, I'll grant you that. But, I don't think bad manners, or frustrations, are limited

to the 40-50 year olds, on this forum. I see it in all age groups...and, in all forums. Internet and forum anonymity

provide easy access to that kind of behavior, unfortunately. But, this forum is (usually) a lot better, at self-regulating,

and even "tolerance" than a lot I've visited. We do seem to have our days, though, I admit. :>b Never pleasant,

but "people being people," not unexpected, either.

It will ride out, eventually. I'm actually a bit surprised, that heated "Beatles" thread hasn't been "nuked," by now. Maybe

the mods are on vacation, for the holidays? Anyway...onward and upward!

Okay, let's not take a lighten up thread and turn it into another "not really wanted" discussion.

Let's police ourselves so that there is no need for someone to get kicked off unless they have intentionally gone out of their way to do so.

I fully expect people to be polarized in their opinions about guitars. It is very personal and subjective. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I love to read about the insight and information some of the members here have..

While it is quite entertaining to see people going postal about things it is a little distasteful to see name calling and such going on. Really guys.... past a certain point I'd prefer people take it to PM or the back alley. It does generate some good by-play though! lol.

Maybe it was just a male menopause thing ...:) :- :-&#-o

You Know, I've followed this thread a little and for some strange reason its taken a "darker" tone than was originally anticipated... perhaps before replying a little decorum should be applied.

I'm still waiting on some S/A to say.... "Buy a Bulb!!" That should "lighten" the subject a little :)

Hey I am in my 50's...Normally that means you have a fair amount of life experience and you learn from these. Tolerance is a virtue and lord knows we all have said things or done things that have generated and exhausted a lot of unnecessary negative vibe. Being right is not THAT important and being opinionated is not especially important because we all have those...

I have only owned (2) Gibby ES-335's and the durn neck was too small and I have this weird preference about block markers versus dot markers so off they went but they were nice guitars. Now if I could find a fat (50's style) neck with block markers on a Gibby ES-335 for under $2K in cherry, I would be very very tempted to pull the trigger right now but...

Anyway...I enjoy the forum (mostly very nice and enthusiastic guitar owners) and I like Epiphones as they are really nice value guitars that can be played, modded and enjoyed.

Happy Holidays Everyone!:)/

This happens a lot in spite of the forum rules.

Reminds me of the Bugs Bunny cartoon where he gets the Hatfields & McCoys

to stop shootin' at each other by playing a fiddle and getting them to square

dance..then he calls out the square instructions..bow to yer partner..pull his

beard..kick him in the groin..etc..then he parades them off a cliff.

..which is similar to the odd one getting banned (for a while)...now who's

playing Bugs here? :-k

My favorite wasn't there

One of my favorites that I didn't see:

Why is it when people shoot Superman the bullets bounce off him, but when they throw their gun at him, he has to duck?

Egad, my testosterone has been in a freefall since I was 40 years old. If anything, we 58-year-olds get annoyed when fellows 40 years our junior paint us as old geezers who don't know crap. One can learn a lot in 58 years. Life DID exist from 1950 to 1990, before those who seem to know it all were born.

That's right, plus 58 year olds were old geezers back when we were 28, but not anymore.

this ain't PC on an epiphone fourm, but what the heck - there's a lot of knowledge here, and all one can do is ask...

Has anyone ever played one of these, if so, what do you think?

http://www.reverendguitars.com/reverend/guitars/set_neck_series/manta_ray_290.html

I ask, because there is only one dealer for this brand in the whole United Kingdom. That store is in Liverpool (not that there's any problem with that, before all the outraged scousers on the board start yelling at me like last time) - but it is a three hour train journey from London and the train fare is expensive, so I'd want to know a little more about the guitar before making a special journey.

These retail for the same price as a MIC Casino. Looks beautiful. Any thoughts, anyone?

I see Reverend guitars a lot in the US magazines, but have never seen one in a store. They must have a cult following. They remind me of some of the offbeat Gretsch guitars, though not quite as art deco.

I've read a lot of nice things about Reverend guitars, although I haven't seen or played one. There are a couple of major differences between a Casino and a Manta Ray:

1) The Reverend is a semi-hollow

2) The Reverend has a flat top

...and of course, there will be many minor differences, too.

I'm pleased to hear that people like them. I really just used the Casino as a sort of 'price guide' example. Apparently the Manta Rays are Korean built, and then set up in Detroit. I always like looking out for guitars that are a little but uncommon, so I might check these Reverends out on my next trip oop north.

By the way, for other interested UK dwellers - the only British dealer for Reverend Guitars is this one (they also sell Airlines and Eastwoods and other weird things):

Reverend builds a very nice guitar. Buddy of mine has a USA made Buckshot with 3 P-90s, Eastpointe neck, tremolo and locking tuners and it came that way from the factory. He says he will never give it up(cold dead hands). It is not a common guitar. They used to build amps as well, and I have been gassing for a Hellhound combo. Joe Naylor started building amps then moved into basses and guitars. They were all handbuilt in Michigan until '05 I believe when they moved production to Korea. I played a few at Corner Music in Nashville, they are a dealer. Nice workmanship and hardware.
