Don't take my word for it but that looks like a les paul standard. I don't know if they made studios with trapezoid inlays in 1996 because if so, it could be a studio instead of a standard. But again, I'm no expert.

  • 2 weeks later...

Can I make a quick suggestion?

Put some strings on it and test the electronics. A $5 set of strings will probably net you another $30 to $50 in the sale. I'm sure that other people are looking and wondering whether or not the p/u's and/or switch work ok.

Throw a set of strings on it, run down to a shop where you can test it and let your bidders know the results.

Good Luck on the Sale.

My techies got the very same green one been hangin' in his shop for sale since I've owned my blue one. He's let me take it down to play a few times, and through a JCM 800, it sounds really nice, just can't get by the sparkly green thi ng it has going on. Guy he's consigning it for dropped his price to 300 bucks for that one, if I had the means to refinish it, I'd get it because it sounds so good, he charges more than I can afford to do that kind of work, so there she hangs to this day...

Just eyeballed your ebay listing - 11 bids so far, I sense folks looking at project

guitar. Will need refinishing IF, IF, IF the winner is thinking about putting it back

to "showroom" condition. (That big wood chip missing on lower horn - OUCH!).

On the other hand, If someone just wants LP Standard and is only concerned about

SOUND, might be sweet deal. I'll bet the bidders already have parts in hand to

slap onto it.

Regarding Pickups, just plug a guitar cord in the LP jack, turn both vol knobs up

all the way, then place one multimeter lead on the other cord end TIP, other meter lead

on the sleeve (seperated by plastic spacer ring above tip), have multimeter set to

20k resistance highest value, then select treble position with 3-way switch. You'll

see the Bridge pup value (say, 12Kohms as example), then select rhythm (neck pup),

you'll see value (say, 8.7Kohms as example). Post info with description on ebay.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, might make a tasty project for the upcoming

spring/summer. Hmmmm.... Gotta think about that missing wood chip.

It doesn't look like a Studio model. I've got a late 90's Korean Studio and although it's got the mop trapiezoid markers in the fret board, the studio does not have any binding. I'm new to the forum so will post some pics of my LP Studio and 96 Peerless Epi Casino in Vintage Cherry Sunburst. Good luck with the project.

Had to snicker about this one:

While looking at the Ebay listing for this git, noticed it says "No strings, DON'T HAVE

AMP" to try it out on. OK, I looked at the "other items for sale" and what did I see?

A PEAVEY guitar with no strings, and.......................A FENDER AMP!!!!! HUH???????

Snicker, snicker....

Still, maybe for a project? Hmmmm......
