Gordy01
I've decided this time, I'm going to build a Strat with 2 humbuckers. GFS body, and most hardware. All gold hardware. Still looking at necks. Thinking maybe a Warmoth, but I'm waiting for a bit more info from another site. Rockfield SWC pickups. I ordered the parts today, so I'll keep everyone posted on progress, and I'll do the picture thing again if that's OK? Comments??

Gordy01
I assume you're talking about the rose I want to put on as a Brand identifier. I've been talking to a couple of commercial sign, and card businesses, and I think I've come up with a nice decal. Very thin so a couple coats of laquer will hide the edges. Here's a list of the hardware I'm using. All hardware is gold. 1. Gotoh Staggered height locking tuners 2. American Strat, 2 point trem bridge, with stainless saddles. 3. Rockfield SWC - 2 humbucker pickups. I'll wire it like this: Pos 1 = Bridge Humbucker pos 2 = Bridge Single coil pos 3 = Both Humbuckers pos 4 = Neck single coil pos 5 = Neck humbucker 4. Butterscotch Ash body 5. Tortoise pickguard 6. Maple neck 7. Gold knobs with white shell tops.
Gordy01
I emailed about 4 different sites for measurements on the necks that they stock. All have necks that are quite thick. The measurement at the 1st fret is: .888 - .890 and slightly larger at the 12th. They tell me that is the standard measurement for American Strats. I ordered the neck today. I went with a Warmoth neck; Standard Thin contour. This neck is .800 at the 1st fret, and .850 at the 12th. This is more like my 62 Reissue Strat which is the nicest neck I've ever played. The new neck is also a compound radius. Starts at 10 in. at the nut, flaring to 16 in. at the base of the neck. Now I'm waiting for all the parts to come, so there won't be any pictures for a while. I will start a new thread when that happens.

Hungrycat
the decal for the headstock? A Strat with two humbuckers? Sounds like a "Stratoblaster" to me...
Gordy01
I don't have anything to show right now, but as soon as I get something you'll be the second [wife is first] to know. Yeah, a Stratoblaster is what it'll be!! I've already got a regular Strat, and a Tele, and a Les Paul, so this one will be different. I'm thinking about selling it. We'll see how it turns out. Gordy01
I got the Warmoth neck in today. It looks very nice. Curly Maple. Skunk stripe, headstock access to the truss rod. I've decided that I'm going to wait until I get everything to start. I'll post pics as soon as that happens. Here is a look at the headstock. It is unfinished, so the grain wil really pop when I laquer it.

It is still pretty cold here, so the garage is not the warmest. Not warm enough for spraying anyway.

MaxHart85231281734137
i know i know the last time today, buttttt, how much was your shipping on the parts from GFS? im thinking of doing a tele project from them? why didnt you go with there necks? cheapies or not good? thanks!
Gordy01
Max, shipping to Canada is more expensive than to the US. I think it was a bout 30 bucks. As for the necks, I decided to go with the Warmoth neck because all of the other necks, from everybody not just GFS, were a bit fat. I like a thinner neck and Warmoth were the only ones I could find that offered a slimmer profile neck. The 1st neck from GFS for the Tele, was a fatter neck. Measurements below. GFS Neck: 1st fret = .890 12th fret = .930 Warmoth Neck: 1st fret = .800 12th fret = .850 Quite a bit slimmer, and you get your choice of frets.
