Riffster
Saw it on the MF catalog for $299, my wife saw me checking it out on the computer and asks me how much is that? I told her and also told her I had a 10% off coupon, she said get it! and why don't you get a wall hanger so you can hang that one on the living room? I stared at her for 5 seconds...she was serious... $270, no bad I hope whoever put this one together took pride in it, chinese made guitars are a crapshot... Dub-T-123
Looks cool. Some Chinese stuff is really sweet and some is total crap. At the very least it should be a nice decoration lol. Is it hollow?
BigKahune
When it arrives, I'm interested to hear what you think of it.
Riffster
Will do, although I am headed to Chicago for a few days next week. I am hoping is a good guitar, it is hollow but they added a center block for modern sound they say, not sure if the block goes all the way the length of the body or not. I will share my impressions when I get it.
freak show
Well, I would say your wife has excellent taste: That is a gorgeous guitar! Some of these Asian remakes of vintage designs are quite good, so you may end up taking it off of the wall from time to time...
Riffster
The guitar came in today, I am pleasently surprised at the quality at this price point. This thing is very well put together, action is perfect out of the box and get this..intonation is perfect to the cent in all 6 strings. Definitely a budget guitar but much better put together than my Casino that was twice as expensive. Things to note other than the specs readily available on MF and any other site: - Seems to be finished in thin Polyester, 10 times better than thick Polyurethane. - Note the maple neck with mahogany stripe all the way through and the volute. - Comes with 2 bridges, lucky for me it came with the Tune-o-matic installed, the other is Ebony for Jazz tones. See the stock photo in the opening post. - The profile on the neck is a very nice C on the shallow side, just perfect, I wish my Casino had this neck. - I am going to have to get used to the controls, no biggy. - Pickups are bright, shimmering, and also can be muffled quite a bit playing with the controls. - Fits in LP case but the back padding may have to be modified depending on the case. The bad: - I noticed is that they struggled putting the pickguard on this guitar, there is a spot where they cut it (crudely)to fit it around a pickup, not big deal, I can smooth the edeg myself. I will have to play it a while before I can post review the sound but the shimmering tones and adding delay I get some U2 tones there, nice cleans, crunchy distortion better for mild overdrive, quiet guitar, (I have read reviews that say the opposite) Pics are not that great since it is night but without pics this guitar would not exist.
