chase1410
On Friday morning I was playing my V for a while, nothing out of the usual, and then a few hours later, plugged it in, and nothing came out of the speaker....At first I thought it was the amp for sure...but plugged in my Les Paul and it worked fine...I have no idea what happened, its only a couple months old. Idk if a connection came loose or what. I'm going to call Gibson tomorrow, but it worries me if I have to send it back, due to it coming with a gig bag. Anyone have any idea what might have happened? I take great care of my things and do not mishandle them in anyway, so I'm curious to know what the problem is.
dem00n
Open it up, take a look. Could be a pot failure (rare), pickup selction failure (rare) or a wire came lose or something.
craigh
I had a guitar that did that. It was a fussy jack plug. Craig
MrNylon
Check the brand of the instrument cord you are using. Some brand cord male plugs are larger and cause problems in the guitar jack.
chase1410
I don't want to open up the V, because I'd have to take off the stop-bar, bridge, knobs, pickguard, etc. And i don't trust myself to put it all back together correctly. It may be the input jack..the nuts always coming loose, but i have no clue.
Artie Owl
Don't forget to check the 3 way switch if it has one, that gave my SG some trouble once, they just put some contact solution on it and it works fine now.
BIGBENDS
The nut on my V's jack plug came loose a couple times causing a bad connection. Tightened it and was as good as new. Check that.
GIANTRobOT42O
Just take it to a repair guy. It'll probably cost you $
Bender 4 Life
depending on how many times you've had to tighten the nut on the input socket, it likely has twisted around and broken a wire loose. should be a $20 repair at most local shops.
