Blues Jr. + Les Paul = Magic!

Hello Everyone,

I could not find the thread that sparked this post, forgive me if this is redundant! I just wanted to speak up about how much I LOVE this combination. As a Tele/Strat player, and now a happy member of the Gibson community, I don't think you can go wrong with this amp combo. Im not sure what my point is... Other than how stoked I am with a Les Paul. It like when you're 12, and Christmas is still rad. You cant wait to get out of bed and plug in. Once you find that 'tone, its intoxicating. Ive had my revelation!

CAN I GET A WITNESS??

I fell in love with my Epi Trad. Pro Les Paul when I tried it in the store through a Blues Jr.,I got a real Robert Fripp/King Crimson PAF tone from it and that sold me on it.I bought my B.J. last year when I tried a Jimmie Vaughn Strat through one in the store and I bought both. The Blues Jr. is one little tone demon and with my '65 John Lennon Casino I can nail the Lennon rooftop concert tone dispite the B.J. having EL34s compared to the Twin's 6V6s.

My Blues Jr. is my main amp, these days. I have a HR Deluxe (Awesome), and a Twin Reverb

(what can one say, about a "Twin" that hasn't been said, many times, before?), as well...

but, they are used in larger venues, or outdoors. The BJ is used, almost exclusively in our

"bar" gigs. It's really all the amp, I need, for that. It's "stock," save the speaker. I

put in a Celestion "Vintage 30," and LOVE it! Sounds amazing, no matter what guitar I'm using!

I want a Blues Junior in tweed, the one for $579

Unfortunately I don't have the cash for one, its invested in another guitar project that I can't bring up on this forum.

And I'm really happy with my JCA20H, so at the moment I just want a Fender Deluexe/Twin reverb.

I wouldn't know, since anything past 3 rattles the windows in the apartment, below mine [razz]

Yeah, there's definite advantages, to living in "God's Country" (AKA The Middle of Nowhere),

as opposed to, stacked on top of one another. (I did that, for 30 years, in LA) I could crank it to

infinity, and no one would care, out here. Still..."8" was just an arbitrary number...past a certain

point, the volume ceases to increase, and even the tube distortion increase is negligible.

So 10, 11, 12...or 100, wouldn't make any difference, really. But, I know you knew that. ;>)

  • 2 weeks later...

I play Les Pauls and an ES339 through my Blues Junior and it sounds great. Suprisingly, the tone I get with my cheap Boss DS-1 distortion through this amp with either Gibson is killer!

The Gibsons sound even better through my Blues Deluxe RI though. [thumbup]
