Portraiture notwithstanding...

Stilton, surely one of the best, if not the best cheese in the world

Is made in white and blue varieties

The white variety is known as 'White Stilton'

The blue variety is known as 'Blue Stilton'

I just wanted you to know that... <_<

A whole thread on cheese and it's not even the weekend ?

I took a tour of a cheese factory once, they specialized in Blue Cheese it was the most disgusting thing Ive seen old moldy rotten cheese that somehow became a delicasy not for me I didn't like it before the tour now I can't even see it without getting queasy. Not bad enough it's mold your eating but then they take copper needles and poke holes all over the cheese so the mold can get inside and make all those green veins in the cheese which are really just air vents to grow mold. Wonder what on earth made the first person decide to taste that???

I admit cheese is my favorite food group (assuming beer is not a food group). In fact a sandwich of cheese and pickles is one of my favorite sandwiches... preferably cheddar with a sour dill pickle sliced lengthwise, bread and mayo... I'm set! In the summer, when the garden has tomatoes I make the same sandwich with sliced tomato instead of the pickle. Delicious!

Cheeses to whet the appetite...

Cheddar....a classic in standard form, mild and mature varieties...

Cheshire

Caerphilly

Edam

Feta

Gorgonzola

Mozzerella

Stilton...if anybody needs reminding

Rochefort

Brie

Camambert

And many more...with pickles, port, cyder, beer or wine to titivate the taste buds... [biggrin]
