Just got off the phone with Long and McQuade and they do not have a single 50's or 60's Tribute Les Paul Studios in stock and they told me there dealer search came up with SOLD OUT for all models, looks as if I wont be getting one of these goobers. One thing I must say I do not like about Gibson is small runs on cheap run of the mill guitars, had a winner with this guy for me and now I have to goto a different company cause I cant buy it GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Salesman "Oh I got the SG special with P90s would that do"

Me "Yeah, only if I can pay you with toilet paper"

I thought Epiphone had a Les Paul with P90s aswell, please help me, I fell in love with a guitar I cant get!

As much as I would love to purchase it off the web, for me its just not cost efficient plus I never have that kinda dough lying around. I finance all my guitars from L&M over 12 months so I am not breaking the bank up front. I may just but a cheapo Epiphone Les Paul II and force some P90s in there myself, hahaha or choose a new guitar, I do dig the 355s and Gretsch Jets. Worst part is they sold there last Cherryburst and Gold Top last week [cursing]

Sorry to hear you missed this one.

LIES! Now go command them to make me a one off one!

I kid, I kid. This is life sometimes you miss out on the good stuff. Not Gibson's fault, but mine for not noticing it sooner.

did you really say can i pay you in toilet paper

No its what went through my head at the time because I hadn't asked for the SG. I looked at the SG when I got home on the Gibson board and it is certainly worth checking out especially since they had a couple of them, kinda digging the worn cherry one gives me that AC/DC feel :)

You should at least go play an SG. They are a different animal than a Les Paul, but you might love them as much as I do. Really. SGs are my favorite guitar.

Again thank you for posting online sites; however I live in Canada and I am not ready to pay customs not to mention pay an online retailer more then a retail store locally. Plus the whole fact that I mention I finance ALL of my guitars over a period of 12 months, I never have this kinda cash lying around I am only 25 with rent, car payments, insurance, hydro, cable, porn bills you know the usual :P I was mainly choked that the only Gibson dealer up here failed to actually secure a decent supply of these guitars for all of Canada (lowblow :P), as mentioned I am gunna check out the SG I wasnt hard up on it being a Les Paul just the P90s. I have played the standard SG before and to be honest I like the access for my fat hand a bit more then an LP.

Thanks! I think you got one of the last few they had around here :P I gotta get new strings today so I told the boys to stash the SG so I can give it a play today when I get there, maybe even bring it home.

well good luck with it! don't feel that you need to get the SG just cause of the situation you're in, but if you like it.. get it!

I did get one of the last ones...actually, the second last honeyburst model in canada.

I like the cherry and ebony finishes of the SG... well, whatever happens, have fun with it!

Oh its not life or death the studio Gold Top with the P90s would have been an awesome little classic rock guy, its how I envisioned the real old stuff before the 59s and stuff. Playability wise I know the SG is just as big of a monster as the LP the P90s are the sole selling factor, I would LOVE a real gold top reissue with P90s but not for the $3500 they want maybe in another year or two when these bums offer me salary instead of making me stay on pathetic hourly its only been five and half years (cough, cough) without missing a single day :o

The SG/LPs with the P90s in them, if so do dish on your opinions I would love to know. So far all mine are based off second hand stuff like youtube vids and crap which obviously never do any type of equipment review or demo and kind of justice. To me it sounded like a great guitar to plug directly into the amp and rock out with. Someone just show me some love and be the angel investor for my Jimmy Page #2 Les Paul.....purdy please.

The ones I checked out seemed to be built OK but just feel cheap to me. I am not a fan of the thin flat finish either. None of them were setup worth a crap. I'm picky so my opinion may not mean much. Like I said they just have a "cheap vibe" to me. I'm sure you could spend some time setting one up and it would play and sound fine and wouldn't be bad for the money. I'm also a fan of heavy Les Pauls. I played a traditional that was very nice....

Since you want to finance you should have just bought that R8 and Marshall combo they had at the North Van L&M a few weeks ago. It was on special for what was it, $6000.00 dollars ? Seriously though, shoot for the stars and get a proper GT and keep it forever.
