saturn
The first for me was definitely Ace. I didn't even know what a Les Paul guitar was, but I remember looking at all those photos of him and his guitar on the KISS Alive and Alive II albums. Then reading the liner notes and it said something like "KISS plays Gibson guitars and Pearl drums because they only want the best."
Marshall Paul
So many good one's. As a kid of the '70s, I saw most of them. But when I think of LP's, I first and foremost think of the big two. Frampton and Page. Doesn't get any better than that.

flyingfrets
For me, the first of course would've been Jimmy Page. While this guy wasn't a dedicated LP player, I always loved the way Mark Knopfler made them sound... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnFKtGWPVys

ReGuitar
For me it was Page. Used to have this photo on my bedroom wall when I was a kid. This is the very first picture that made me fall in love with Lesters.
Marshall Paul
For me, the first of course would've been Jimmy Page. While this guy wasn't a dedicated LP player, I always loved the way Mark Knopfler made them sound... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnFKtGWPVys Oddly enough, most of the recorded Dire Straits material, and Mark's solo stuff, were recorded using that very LP and not a strat. That Lp happens to be a genuine '59 (nice being a rich rock star eh!) and it's understandably his favourite. Unfortunately, he doesn't travel and perform with it anymore because no insurance company will cover it's travel time, worth too much. Pity... capmaster
Definitely Marc Bolan, about ten years before I started playing myself. However, I never tried top-wrapping and always cut off the string overlaps at the tuners.
