Duende
We are all very lucky here to have discovered the guitar - the greatest and most expressive instrument in my eyes! I still I get immense pleasure just from fretting an open chord and hearing the richness of sound! Cheers to you Dave and cheers to the guitar! G McBride
I have a Fender Half-Stack FM100H in my office and a Blues Jr. I always have a couple of guitars in the event a buddy stops by we can jam a little. I guess I have the same issue, if i hear something or think of a riff, I want to pick up the guitar and play right then. My friends tell me I am ate up. They think I'm addicted, they may be right. milod
Regardless the type or style of guitar, or guitar playing, I think it's "special" because it is so many instruments wrapped into one instrument one can carry. I keep considering that functionally the classical guitar used mostly for Bach and such, and the heavily modified and fuzzed solidbody "lead" guitar in rock are the same instrument. It's incredibly versatile. Yeah, I've been addicted since the summer of '63. m

Yeah, I've been addicted since the summer of '63. m i find that i play both passively and actively. i will sit down and actually "work" on things i am trying to learn, but then also just noodle around without any thought at all (scales, chords, random licks, etc.) i've even spent entire conference calls (a common thing in the IT world) playing unplugged the whole time. the guitar to me then becomes the equivalent of a stress ball or brain toy. anyone else experience this phenomenon? few other instruments lend themselves to such diversity. :) Don

daveinspain
Ok, I'll have a go... I can't put down the guitar even while driving my car... some say that I'm nuts, Is it passion or lust? Feel it in my hands Feel it in the band Feel it in the air I feel it every where... I can't put down the guitar no matter how distant or far... sometimes it's in the way but I'm always up to play" Feel it in my hands Feel it in the band Feel it in the air I feel it every where... I can't put down the guitar Like Groucho and his cigar, To have it is a must without my guitar I'm dust. Feel it in my hands Feel it in the band Feel it in the air I feel it every where... davidl
Good job Dave, Have you put it to music? Read the last line "I'm still just a hack" Actually it would be fun to put some music to it. Then I could say that I'm a song writer. Maybe a little 1 4 5 blues?
