Clanky44
Hi folks, I'm sitting on a 2001 MIK Sheraton that I'm in the process of purchasing. I checked out the guitar and it looks very good. Minimal wear for a 10 year old guitar. While checking out the guitar I did notice one thing a bit troubling. There's a serial code on the back of the headstock (S01025786) but inside of the body the location where it should have the serial number stamped is blank. I have it with me now and have been given a day to assess this issue prior to completing the purchase. Upon closer inspection on the back of the neck the 5 ply ends about one inch shy of the bottom of the neck,... and is completed by what appears to be two blocks of solid wood. Is this normal construction or is this a repair??? I have seen a few older Sheratons with the 5 ply ending prior to the bottom of the neck, but would love to hear some confirmation. Any feedback from Korean made Sheratons owners would be appreciated. thanks, Frank here's a couple of pics of the area in question.
charlie brown
All, quite normal, really. A lot of Asian Sheraton's (most) have "scarf joints" at the heal. Many have another one, at the headstock, too. But, not that era's. The newer "Chinese" made, have scarfs at both ends of the neck. As to the label inside, not having a number...I've seen many, that way. Looks to be in great condition! IF...those are your only concerns, I'd say: "Go For it!!" brianh
It doesn't have a serial number on the label because it has one on the headstock. The label is just there to indicate the model. It looks completely legit. I have 2 MIK Sheratons and they are both excellent , far better than what you'd expect for a guitar in this price range. eggs
She's beautiful Frank & I love my '99 Samick Blondie... whose neck ends exactly as yours does PS: & I also have no serial number on the internal sticker!
brianh
That's a beaut, looks like the twin of my tobacco Sherri. Neither of mine have f-hole stickers at all, so consider yourself lucky!
Clanky44
Thanks Eggs and Brian,... this is my first 'used' guitar. It came up on Kijiji yesterday and Lori was the one who took note of it. She called me this morning and let me know. It was a local guitar,... so we had the opportunity of seeing it first hand. The owner was very helpful and quite willing to answer all of our questions.

Timb64
I recently purchased a very similar aged Sheraton and confirm the details about serial number not being on the inside sticker, etc. Go for it mate you won't be disappointed.

Clanky44
So you did buy it Frank, good call mate, looks a fantastic guitar, have fun with it mate, HNGD. Thanks Rob!, We really did not want to buy one from e-bay sight unseen,.... so we've been checking out the local listings day in day out for over three months. I really wanted the tobacco-burst and I'm quite pleased with this one. Sounds awesome, great action, previous owner changed the bridge, but kept the original parts, tons of micro-scratches, but that's to be expected from a 10 year old git. TWANG
same as my sheri.. she's 20! they buff out easy.. the poly is, in fact, a bit too thick. so don't sweat body scratches. Clanky44
Whoa... Stunning Stable Frank Thanks for the comment Eggs, With the exception of a travelling guitar, we think we have all we need. Sometime this summer, I'll bust open the piggybank and pick up a nice amp, but for now all is good.
