Your Favourite Tracks To Jam To

I don't do much jamming to tracks these days. There was a time during the 90s when I mostly jammed to SRV. I would tune my guitar down 1/2 step, put on any one of my many SRV albums and just play along and improvise over the songs.

Now I'm more likely to sit in front of the TV and try to quickly pick out chords and melodies of the background music and commercial jingles by ear before they end.

I jam to a variety of tracks, either music from favorite bands, backing tracks or a drum beat.

Last year I did not have the discipline to practice and play, as a result I regressed in my abilities, this year I have been at it in a consistent way.

And to piggyback on the topic:

This is my setup, iPhone connected via bluetooth (that little purple light on the picture) into a PA powered speaker, then I have an iPhone holder on a mic stand to play the music and refer to tabs on the net if I need to or look up lyrics.

I plug a guitar, choose an amp and pedals if any and jam away.

I also play through my Macbook, Apogee Jam and headphones.

Mine has always been Mountain Jam from Eat a Peach. I would jam with Dickie and Duane till the drum solo, then I'd switch to bass and jam along with Berry for a while during his jam and then I'd hurry up and try to put the guitar back on before the band kicks in again. I never really tried to copy the licks, I would just try to put my own part to the song. I still have fun doing it.
