EVOL!
One of the great guitar players from the early 70s that I never see mentioned is Mick Ronson. I love early glam (Spiders from Mars era Bowie, T. Rex, etc) so I may be biased, but goddamn, Ronson was a force with his Les Paul, wah, and Marshall amps. Who else had his tone? Who else had his sound? Who else had his style? Just wanted to throw this out there after rocking out to Bowie's Live In Santa Monica '72.
fromnabulax
Be sure to check out his stellar work with Bob Dylan during the 1975-1976 Rolling Thunder Review gigs. The guy was a monster.
rct
Rolling Thunder was the original drunken brawl rock and roll, and he was a big part of it. rct
Dub-T-123
I love Mick Ronson. And you forgot one of the most important ingredients, EVOL. His MKI Tone Bender
LarryUK
I saw him on the Ziggy Stardust tour. It was amazing. That show led to all the Madonna/Cyrus/Perry shows that we get now. Bowie was a decade in front back then. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybRGMA1A_8 Looking back it seems odd that I saw this tour.

His MKI Tone Bender Let's not forget his use of Marshall "Major" AKA "The Pig" Stacks, as well! Wonderful, BIG tone! CB
IanHenry
Mick was an all round great musician, producer and innovator, it's generally considered that early Bowie wouldn't have been anything like what was released without him. Even the bands hair styles were the creation of his wife, Suzi. Mick also produced a couple of good solo albums, Slaughter on Tenth Avenue and Play don't Worry. He's much missed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiWFIDerKx4 Ian ps Just listen to the shows line-up during the introduction what a wonderfull show! Starpeve
If my memory serves me correctly, he was a classically trained pianist. Fantastic guitarist, probably my first guitar hero. Ziggy Stardust had an LP note ' To be played Loud!' , advice I took to with zeal!! My whole neighborhood knew that record intimately!!!

At that point in time, when he ruled supreme, it probably would have been odd NOT to see him if you were able!
