  1. Can't believe they blocked out "BlTCH" in my post.... it's the proper name for a female dog..... the actual award given toward their championship is "WINNERS BlTCH".
  2. I'll make sure to let you know next time I'm there....the dog show is usually the first weekend after the New Year. We might be there this New Year.... we usually drive to Bakersfield, spend the night, then on to Palm Springs..... do the same thing backwards when we return. We have a new Affenpincher Puppy ***** we'll be showing, so there's a good chance we'll head down there, (depends on the judges). It'd be fun!
  3. Next time I'm at the Polo Grounds, you'll have to stop by and well irritate the others in their motor homes!
  4. But just by a couple of years, right?
  5. Murph, if that happens, I'll stop posting YouTube videos, for sure!
  6. This is a guy I worked with, (truth be known, his family OWNS the company), and he told me this story one day at breakfast! Many people consider the Crown Family a crime family, but I love them and gladly worked for them right up until I retired: https://abcnews.go.com/US/September_11/911-anniversary-survivor-reflects-escaping-death/story?id=14479161
  7. Ya'll know I live in Northern California. I was in the back yard of my house, (on the edge of a cliff), when Loma Prieta hit! But that's not the thing I wanted to say. When I was stationed in Chambersburg, PA in 1971, there was a HUGE earthquake in Los Angeles...Killed close to 60 people. I was working with a guy from New Jersey...he said to me, How can you live in that state? I told him the 'big' earthquakes happen about once every 70 years or so.... and this quake is as far from my home as Charlotte, NC is from here. I also told him more people die due to weather on the East Coast each year than died in this earthquake. But.... I sure hope they discover a way to predict earthquakes better in the future!
  8. When we played with some of the big groups in the 60's... they used out amps/drums/keyboards....but they brought their own guitars.
  9. I bought three high-end guitars from GC....only played one of them before I bought it....(and I had called them and told them to NOT put it out...put it in the case and I'd come in the following week). But all mine worked out just fine!
  10. Was working in my office.... when I left home, I told the wife I'd be home Friday....was headed to Washington then Salt Lake City (set up for the Winter Olympics). Heard about the first plane on the radio....went into the conference room and watched it on the TV there..... After a while, my wife called.... I answered the phone and she said, "What are you doing there?" I said, "I work here." She said, "No, you said you were going to Washington today.".... I said, "I'm sure not going now!". She didn't know if I meant Washington State or Washington DC. I was planning to leave at noon for University of Washington in Seattle.
  11. 40.... I actually have a GREAT "Beater".... a 1969 Jubilee..... been with me for @ 50 years..... been all over the country..... started to look like "Trigger"....so I had some top cracks repaired....but it deadened the sound some....but still a great guitar. I'm now playing it as my practice guitar, (every morning), because it's smaller and helps my brusitis. I don't mind loaning out my Dove and J-50...both are really great guitars, but are 'players'. I spoke with Ren Ferguson, and he said if I bring back my DIF, Custom KOA 'Bird and 12-String 'Bird, he'd sign them for me. Another thing.... I keep all my guitars in their cases (Earthquakes), with humidifiers....but the humidity here in the SF Bay Area is nearly perfect for guitars.
  12. We have two Kitchen Aid Refrigerators.....I went to Kitchen Aid and bought a half dozen of each filter for them.... they'll last the rest of my life, (if the refrigerators last that long).
  13. I've always loved Hummingbirds. The reason I have several Gibson Acoustics is BECAUSE I played a mid-60's 'Bird back when I worked in a music store. I said then....if I ever got the money, that's the acoustic I'd want! I now have 2 Hummingbirds, but would love a "Hog" B&S 6-String that I can play out....nothing too nice, so I don't have to worry about buckle-rash or loaning to someone to play....but alas, no room at the inn, (if you know what I mean). CONGRATZ on your new axe....let's see some photos! Let's hear some tunes!
  14. Thanks so much. We nearly an anthem to us in 'Nam...that at "Alice's Restaurant"!
  15. Thanks Ben....I think the vocals suck....but it was a real chore to get the bass and organ recorded.
  16. This song was nearly an anthem to us when we were in Vietnam. This song was recorded in three parts. 1. First I recorded the bass part, since it's the foundation of the song. (Fender P-Bass - Used A Fender Dual Showman Reverb Amp) 2. Recorded the Keyboards, (tried to sound as much like a VOX Continental as possible). (CASIO KT-80 - Used a LANEY HC-25R Amp) 3. Added the guitar and vocals. (Mike Birdwell Custom Eagle Guitar through a Fender Princton Reverb Amp, Vocals (sorry) through a Fender Passport 300-Pro PA) All recorded on an iPhone...no High-Tech here!
  17. That's such a cool story! I would never loan out my DIF, Hummingbird or 12-String to ANYONE.... I'd loan out my Dove, J-50 or Jubliee, but no one would want to borrow them!
  18. I bought an engraved Swiss Army knife in a Swiss Army knife store at the base of the Matterhorn (Zermatt) on my birthday in 2019. I had the date engraved on it, and will go to my oldest grandson, (when he's old enough to not cut one of his fingers off). It sits still in the case in my dresser.
  19. Over the years I've lost more than a couple of knives at the TSA checkpoints!
  20. I tell my son that a man should ALWAYS carry a pocket knife. I carry a Swiss Army Knife...I've had maybe 15 throughout my life..... I still have maybe 7-8 of my 'retired' knives laying around the house in different rooms.... one in the family room, one in the bar, one in the kitchen, one in the music room, one in the bedroom, one in the motor home, one in the garage....these don't count the one I carry in my pocket.... still have a brand-new one in my dresser for when I need it.....when I use it, I'll buy another 3-4 of them.
  21. Ever heard of Stuie French? He might do some session work in Nashville, but I'd never heard of him. One of the top guitarists in Australia, (after Tommy). Now makes videos in his living room with his family.
  22. ZWolf....you're right.... it's the same difference as between a photo and a painting.... small imperfections make paintings 'art'. Since I worked in manufacturing all my career, I recognize how many products are 'production-made', but still have a lot of 'hand-fitting'.
  23. Well, there's thirteen hundred and fifty two Guitar pickers in Nashville And they can pick more notes than the number of ants On a Tennessee ant hill Yeah, there's thirteen hundred and fifty two Guitar cases in Nashville And any one that unpacks 'is guitar could play Twice as better than I will
  24. Dave, Don't know what you traded....but you did good!
  25. Let me try these photos.... were sent to me before I bought the guitar from Guitar Center, (many years ago):
